every time i read these everlasting discussions about 'minimal' and 'melodic' i realise that my favourite kind of psytrance doesn't fit in either category .. i don't really have the urge to over-categorize things and couldn't care less for how you call it, but i think that if you see this list of artists a certain similarity in style can be observed:

hux flux, droidsect, color drops, navajo, fungus funk, digital separatist, made in chapora, grapes of wrath, sienis, muschaw, weirdo beardo, little blue men, psyko disko, miraculix, loopus in fabula, dark nebula ..

a lot of old matsuri and psy-harmonics stuff is quite similar to these artists too, although i tend to think that the newer things are usually a bit more dancefloor-friendly (most of the finnish weirdos might be an exception to this though) ... gms also used to make tracks in this 'style' before they invented their hit-formula ...

well anyway i personally think that _these_ artists are the cutting edge of today's psychedelic trance, the bringers of intriguing mindboggling states of unsanity :) for me this boundary-pushing approach to psytrance is a lot more interesting than borrowing elements from the techno-scene .. i also tend to feel that this 'style' has more of a link to the drugged psychedelic mindstate and outdoor parties, which for me is more or less the essence of psytrance .. i'm pleased to see that there is actually some kind of a small scene developping focussing on these interesting new sounds, parvati being the label i'm expecting the most from ..

so what do you think? any artist recommendations in this 'style' which refuses to be one? (oh and i must say i'm not really talking about artists like absolum, alien project or neuromotor here even though i sure like a lot of their music too)

feel free to add anything :)

bom bom!

I only know about half of those groups, but the ones I know are the ones I like, so I think I know what you're talking about. I recommend Haltya and Pelinpala, odd harmonic (sometimes), weird alchemy (sometimes).

And I am so psyched about Parvati!

heheh, i just bought that odd harmonic album on demon tea .. let's just say it's very ODD :) and yes, those others you mentioned are cool too, although not always very dancable (but haltya - 1979 flashdance is _the_ exception to this ;)) ... thanks :) going to continue listening to odd harmonic now, off to the loony bin we go!
