Guest Kristian Posted April 12, 2002 Posted April 12, 2002 I found this at Audiogalaxy: mark allen - psychedelic trance mix A pretty old mix I guess, one of the first tracks is Cosmosis - "Cannabanoid". Anyone who knows if he spins this lovely stuff today too? If not, are there any newer other mixes at Audiogalaxy by him or what stuff does he prefer today? PS. He spins at Arvikafestivalen, Sweden this year Quote
Guest opul Posted April 12, 2002 Posted April 12, 2002 get ready for some house in case you go to watch his set Quote
Guest kingdok Posted April 12, 2002 Posted April 12, 2002 Yep...flat, monotonous "funky" house. Quote
Guest shift Posted April 12, 2002 Posted April 12, 2002 pitty really, he used to rock...but then he's not the only one to go that way is he? Quote
Guest bugbread Posted April 12, 2002 Posted April 12, 2002 Hehe...I often wonder if it's convenience that he and Tsuyoshi are both house DJs that are former goa DJS, and they both play at Return to the Source parties. Quote
Guest Entare Posted April 12, 2002 Posted April 12, 2002 It's not true because I listened Tsuyoshi last year and this year and Mark Allen this year too and I'm telling u guys music was definetly NOT HOUSE, Tsuyoshi played dark minimal psytrance and Mark very fast full on, well too fast if u ask me, but the point is that I didn't hear any house vibes at all. More opinions... Quote
Guest tequila Posted April 12, 2002 Posted April 12, 2002 I saw Mark Allen 3 weeks ago and it was definitly not house music. it played full on psytrance. Quote
bomble Posted April 13, 2002 Posted April 13, 2002 I think Mark Allen has always played quite peculiar stuff, but usually very good. His explorations mix on rtts is splendid. bomble Quote
Guest Setsuko Posted April 13, 2002 Posted April 13, 2002 i want more hopefiend / updata ... :-) Quote
Guest bugbread Posted April 13, 2002 Posted April 13, 2002 Hmm...It seems that what they play may vary from show to show. Last year Tsuyoshi played hard house at all his outdoor shows, but he may spin psy from time to time too. I've only heard Mark Allen once, though, and that time it was house. That may have been the exception, not the rule. Quote
Guest Mike D Posted April 13, 2002 Posted April 13, 2002 I dunow what he spins, I think it might be vinyl, though DAT is a possibility or cd. He might even use mp3 no? Maybe he just spins on his head to breakbeat! Quote
Guest akindo Posted April 13, 2002 Posted April 13, 2002 Mark Allen played here a couple of weeks ago, but I did not dare go! akindo Quote
Guest Balence Posted April 15, 2002 Posted April 15, 2002 Mark Allen has gone professional. He spins progressive trance which is the future of psy as well. Psy is going to merge with progressive gradually (not all). We can see a lot of artists doing this now. ManMadeMan for example. Mark Allen has been working with Digiweed and Oakenfold (kinetic records). He is also producing some really excellent music now call it whatever you want : ) Balence Quote
Guest KS Posted April 15, 2002 Posted April 15, 2002 everyboy go and burn all your goa records, the great oracle balence has spoken// @!#$ mark allen has sold out, so i should follow his footsteps what else is there to do?... please man balence, keep your opinions to yourself, you make me laugh.. mark's new music might be good, but that does not mean all psy producers will start making progressive trance.. and dude, even among the progressive crew, no one likes oakenfold anymore.. would you believe it he sold out to the mtv scene.. cool so mark allen is now a progressive trance producer, good for him.. i don't care, i will still stomp in front of the speakers hearing full on psy.. because all i need for that is music and my feeet,, i think they are still here.... Guest KS Posted April 15, 2002 Posted April 15, 2002 btew.. i think new manmademan style is really monotonous and boring.... he was more hype than good even in the days that these guys genrefied and tried to commercialize the goa name..... i would consider joti, cosmosis and jez, hallucinogen and the twisted crew to be more into the scene and recently its these guys singlehandedly who reporesent the scene in U.K..... actually its good that these othe brits are off on another tangent.... they were looking and sounding very stagnated in the least couple of YEARS>>>> not months man but years.... Guest Mahoney Posted April 15, 2002 Posted April 15, 2002 Both the "Quirks" is more into house now as it seems, Mark Allen making music as "Hopefiend" and "Tim Healey" performs as "Electric Tease" and they are making music together under the pseudo "Allen and Healey", personally I like the more progressive and trancey Electric Tease far more then Hopefiend,, Quote
Guest green mouse Posted April 19, 2002 Posted April 19, 2002 Mark is one of the most talented djs I´ve ever heard and every time I have enjoyed his sets, also his mixed cds (quite a few of them out there).....and i don´t care for your definitons of what he plays....it is quality music Quote
