Guest Barrington
I was at the Full Moon Party in July. I take it you're heading there for that very reason, so let me dispense some advice from the experienced, some of it found out the hard way. 1. Do get accomodation on Phan gan at least a week before the party. 2. Don't stay in Haad Rin. it's crazy as hell, and not very nice. 3. Do stay in Bottle Beach, to the North of the island. great place to chill out after the party. 4. If you rent a motorbike and take it to the party - remember where you parked it in the first place. it's no joke. i spent 4 hours looking for it, as i had nooo clue. 5. Diet Pills (buzzy amphetamines) are available at the pharmacy off Haad Rin beach for 50baht a shot. totally legal too. 6. take a little backpack for your camera (worth taking) and keys etc. you'll loose everything. 7. Water is so cheap it's almost free at the party, so no worries there. 8. Don't skin up, or smoke spliffs on the beach. much under-cover coppage. 9. Do attempt to makes friends with some crazy mofo's that got bungalows on Haad Rin. then you can dump your stuff in their place, and skin up there before and after the party. 10. The main after party happens at The Backyard. however, it's crap, so get some breakfast, have a spliff and think about finding a bar to chill in. 11. Do go to the Purple Haze Bar before the party. Facing Haad Rin Beach, it's about as far to the right as you can go, although finding it is quite epic, and nobody knows where it is. best of luck on that one, although it;s worth it, because they play ambient psy, and give out free body painting. plus you sit on the floor. 12. Don't go the full moon party beach much before midnight. have dinner late(10pm) and maybe a spot of 'shroom tea before going anywhere. 13. Don't go to the Waterfall party before the full moon party. it's in the middle of the island and decidedly crap. 14. Don't bike from Haad Rin to Tong Sala if it's raining. you WILL die. oh yes indeed. this is THE single craziest road ever built on the planet. full stop. 15. Don't worry about the people dead on the beach. They're not really dead. they just need a good poke in 10 hours or so. *grin* 16. Don't accept anything remotely illegal from anyone on the beach. ever. 17. Do dance in the surf. everyone else does it, and with good reason. fun! 18. Don't be surprised when you can't find your sandals anywhere. a quick survey of the beach will yield many many hundreds of lost sandals, all looking the same. find some roughly your size and run.... nobody comes off Haad Rin with their own shoes. 19. Don't be surprised to see wide-eyed people straggling into your bungalow complex as much as three days after the event. give them some Tea, a spliff and a seat. remind them that Thailand is a wonderful country, and that they need a sleep! 20. Make sure you go to Koh Tao to SCUBA dive ( i recommend Crystal Dive) after the party. everyone heads there about a week later, and it has a few good bars. (AC Bar & Venus). have fun, and peace out. Guest StoNeY!
Hi RooMusH, how are you going to Koh Phan gan from Belgium? Do you have an idea howmuch the transport will cost me? Plane and trains and stuff. I'd like to spend my new year in Thailand this year, but I think it will be too expensive, for me and my mates. Also, we never did anything like this before, the farrest we ever went backpacking was to the belgian ardennes Greets

Guest russ
Can anyone give more info about the party itself? Know the organizers? Heard their sound system? Been to the location? (Why is the location poor? Only because it's not on the beach?) cheers
Guest Rick
There are some rumors that more than a couple of acts have cancelled their presense at this party, may be due to the recent events in the USA. but the promoters have not made this public yet so who know who will actually be playing there.
