Keep in mind, America is a HUGE place, not as many people as India for instance, but much larger, physically. This means that different parts of America are almost like different countries. A californian and a Kentukian are just about as different as a Frenchman and an Israelite. Remember this when you bash america ;) maybe you are really just bashing one little part of america.

In california, and colorado, I went to some beautiful parties. beatiful people. fabulous music. engaging people with a wonderful vibe. I've also been to some like what you described. If you look for the ones with huge colorful flyers, then you are always going to find parties thrown by people trying to impress each other (hence the big proffessional flyers) but if you ask around, you'll find where the soulful parties are. In santa cruz california, the moontribe parties were held every full moon, on a beach, in the forest, at a temple, anywhere. They were always free, and could go on for days. Everyone there looked at each other with love, it was more like going to a family reunion than a rave. Hundreds of people, but each of them with the same look, "i'm so happy to be back with my tribe on this full moon."

So there are good things in america, hidden amongst the bad ;) try not to generalize over such a large area.

yes phidauex, indeed it's a huge area!

ABOUT A CONTINENT, I MAY SAY!

what's wrong with u? u say something in between lines that make me think u don't like mainstream, so why u act like 'em?

or isn't mainstream to think in USA as America? WE'RE IN A BIG CONTINENT NAMED AMERICA, and U LIVE IN USA. respect for our tribes & shared continent!

or the other way is to call all-of-us and each-and-everyone HUMAN or EARTHER!!!!

hehehehehehe! that'll be nicer.

'com guys, u're better than that (i hope).

A big this-type-of-globalization-is-fine Bom

Also keep in mind that there are many types of parties here, including:

1) A "massive" or huge party that is promoted to the teeth and targeted at high schoolers. I don't find it hard to believe that some attendees at these kind of events are acting silly.

2) A psytrance party. Usually promoted by small email lists and word of mouth. These draw only the hard core fans, and consequently, the vibe is usu. very nice. Last night I went to a party on the roof of a downtown building. The party consisted of maybe 25 people the whole night. The music was good, the people were all friends, and consequently the party was a blast!
