Guest WSTE_M
Hi there! Me and my friends are thinking of going to the Samothraki festival and I was wondering what is the best way to get there ? W
Guest Tris
That really depend the way your travelling, and the money you wanna spend.... There is a local airport in Alexandopouli, so if you change plane in Athens, all you have to do is take the fast boat from the port to Samothraki. You can take a bus or a train from Athens throught Thessaloniki too, but it's something like 15 or 20 hours. There is a boat 1 or twice a week from Athens also. Many ways overland across Europe too, or landing in Istanbul........ Tris ----------------- www.hadra.net

Guest Astral
I long to you think it could take to come back from Samothraki to Athens after the party? If you count the ferry and the train all together.
Guest Bin gardening
High, if u life in southern germany u could take the train to ancona then the ferry to patras greece ( 23 hours) , from there take the train to athens--->thessaloniki--->alexandroupoli. (14-18 hours) Athens-alexandroupoli: 12-16 hours by train..cant remeber exactly but it's about 3- 4 hours from alexandroupoli too samothf$ckinraki.. I did this with an interrail ticket (cheap ferry ancona - patras) i had to come from northern holland...which was a bit harsh in one go.. tip... come early...its an absolute mayhem at the ferry office, got there a bit late so i lost 1 day but had some nice nights on alexandroupoli "beach ".... peace,
Guest Bin loading
O yeah trains are very crowded...make reservations...!!!!!! or come early!
Guest Astral
Well I can't take any Interrail ticket because I'm Canadian. When you are not from Europe, you have to be at least 6 months long in europe to buy such a ticket. So I'll have to ask my girlfriend to buy me an "Eurail ticket". I think it's pretty similar. I just want to know if the ferry tickets were included in your Interrail ticket and how can I reserve train ticket in Italy and Greece while I'm now leaving in Germany? If you can answer that, it would be really appreciate. Thanks
Guest Bin loading
U get a discount at some ferry services, mostly so u just have to pay "harbor tax" 9 - 10 euros or something like that.. for a single ancona - patras. the ferries are from the "superfast" company.... real nice... U can make reservations when ur in Italy or Greece itself but Italy is not such a big problem. .. peace,
