Guest DBB
i live in holland and the scene here is so little that it isn't almost here at all , so when i see an album or comp in the stores i most likely buy it wether the reviews say it is good or bad. Do you have a same situation were you are or not?? I can download every album i want and burn 50 albums a week , but i will never do that because then the fun will be missing , i'm so happy when i find somewhere in a store a "forgotten" psy cd. Then i listen to it with much more affection then burn the lot..... opinions please!!
Basilisk
i buy everything i want stage 1: find out about new releases stage 2: obtain these releases in mp3 or hear samples on shops stage 3: find a place to buy and buy it! but to buy everything... i'd soon have a big collection of progressive crapola! Guest Syre
I buy everything worth buying. But to buy everything... i'd soon have a big collection of full-on melodic crapola!
Guest Mike D
Well, I have listened to psy for a good 4-5 years now and know exactly what I like, and I buy it. Yes I do try out new stuff, but even then I know most of the newer acts I like. I think it is important to get what I want out of the scene now, I have enough cd's to have a wide spectrum, so to save time and money, I just buy the few albums and compilations that REALLY interest me. I used to buy everything, spending upt to $200us a paycheck on cd's, but it was getting ridiculous, now I spen maybe $100us in two months at the max., usually about $30 us on two cd's a month, and I only go and see live acts that really excite me, not just any old party, I have been to enuff raves and parties to realise that it is not good spending habit :-) I much prefer doping something nice with my family, friends, girlfriend than have a huge but crappy cd collection, and I can enjoy spending on other things, clothes etc. I think you should just get what you like, not evrything, because I do think that at least 40% of stuff coming out nowadays is pretty dodgey. Guest nomad
(my curved bell) infancy maturity decree.... progressive minimal is in it's infancy full on is in it's decline There will always be a place for full on psycedelic trance, and it will be interesting to see which of the newer minimal acts mature and how they take that sound with them
Guest hoffy
Whenever I go to second hand cd-stores, I get all the psy-trance, because even if its @!#$ its nice to listen to so i can compare a "@!#$" collection of tracks to songs i write... =)... But with online stores, Trance Shops, and even HMV and Sanity stocking trance these days (I find HMV great for Trance because all the little shops tend to just sell new @!#$ which DJ's grap as soon as they come out; The big chain stores always have classics like Green Nuns and Hallucinogen) It would be *impossible* to get all trance music I could... And besides, I still love my Floyd, Gong, Nick Cave, Dirty Three, Ramones (!), Radio Birdman, Hendrix, Dylan and a heap of other bands and genre's... Tatsu
for me its quite easy to get all the cds i want because there are a lot of good online shops. so if i would buy i everything that is available i would be bankrupt in a second!! but i buy a lot. for the last few months i was buying cds and some vinyls (mainly psy but also other styles) for about 200$ a month. but now i slowed down a little 'cause i've ordered a playstation 2, cdjs and i have also other stuff to pay. but my wishlist is still quite huge so as soon as i have more money to spend.... Guest acev
I buy at least 5 CDs a month + 3-6 Vinyls....that's all my financial situation allows (actually it doesn't allow it :-]).....But I never buy anything I have not heard in advance....there is so much great stuff out there, so I do not want to waste the little money I have for low quality tunes.....The internet helps me a lot to choose.... What you can always do is prelisten at psyshop (although quality is bad and only 40 sec), that gives you an idea if the style could fit into your needs....sometimes I also burn an album, if it is not as good as I would buy it but maby nice to have, but this happens very seldomly....Grreetz

Järsimähäiriö
Tatsu - Oh good to hear that everything worked out fine. By the way how is it, did you buy some voltage adapters (110V-->220V) and if so, where did you find 'em? Some regular hardware store? Did you have to pay some taxes or tolls at the customs?
