This is not trance ambient release nor downtempo. This is side project of legendary Front Line Assembly. They had numerous side projects of which 2 most popular are DELERIUM and SYNAESTHESIA. Since DELERIUM is variable ambient project, this one is more concentrated and focused. They released 3 albums as Synaesthesia and they are all an absolute PERFECTION. Yes, all 3 are perfect cause they don't have slight flaw in arrangements, musical wise and production wise. This is their second album, after EMBODY from 1995 and before EPHEMERAL from 1997. This album is absolute gem, there isn't one bad song on both discs, so we have 14 brilliant songs masterfully pulled together. ANDROMEDIA is the only trancey song on an album and it does sound a bit out of place cause it is trancey but is stunning song nevertheless. ORION NEBULAE is perfect ambient spacey journey. It is very floaty, dreamy with perfect melody. I actually won't go song by song, cause they are all great, I just want to name my favourite : ORION NEBULAE ( !!! ), UMBRA, DNA BARCODE, SURFACE SYSTEM ( the best on whole album, dark, gloomy, shivery and freaky ), SUBVERSION, LUMIA ( ! ), HALLUCINATIONS ( ! ), MOSAIC ( !! ). LIFELESS ( !!! ), TUBASTREA AUREA, so practically all of them...get it if you like ambient music and extremely clever music...11/10

Hell yes. I think Ephemeral is my favorite of their 3 albums, but damn, it's all quite unique stuff.

Delerium - cheese + trippiness = Synaesthesia

Delerium is not that cheesy Grahf... This album is too good, better than Ephemeral just because it is double disc and all songs are great !

old delerium = not cheesy at all

new delerium = sickeningly cheesy

 

they've changed a lot over the years. semantic spaces was a good balance for me. synaesthesia was always different than delerium anyway i guess, with out without the cheese.

I have all 3 cds and they are great. I think Desideratum is the best, followed by Ephemeral and Embody. These albums are like soundtrack movies, especially Desideratum.

Note that this album and the other Synaesthesia albums were written by Richard Deckard aka "Dekkard", only the producing and "sonic manipulation" was done by Leeb and Fulber alias FLA and Delerium. In other words Synaesthesia can't be called a real "side project" of Delerium, because they didn't really make the music.

hmmm nothing really but i dont think i have ever rated anything 10/10... hmmm

anywayz , this is probably my taste, but i would like all of it to be beatless... at some parts it's not... personal taste :]

Absolutely amazing soundscapes. Brings back nostalgia of older video games soundtracks, as I find it very similar to something like C&C Tiberian Sun ost.
