Hi,

just got IM's the gathering in the mail on LP. I Was wondering why did they put this on 3 Lp's? I noticed the same thing for some other psy albums...

Does this give better sound quality or something?

The bigger the cut on a LP is the better the sound will be. Just as the "12's an album with a bigger cut will sound more dynamic and have a better quality of sound.

Hope that explained it somehow.

yeah the less music (timewise) on a side, the deeper and wider the grooves, and the louder the cut. If you have a single that has one track on side 1, and two on side 2, the ones on side 2 will probably be quieter than side one.

also some labels like to put out the LP's with the dancefloor-friendly tracks each having a side of their own (like spirit zone) and a dj can just take one record to a gig instead of like 3 or 4.

actually i'm pretty sure those 9 tracks from the gathering wouldn't even fit on just 2 records (not in stereo anyway, doh ;)
