Basilisk
What a weird bunch of selections... people go X-Dream crazy on these "history of trance" compilations (remember Eternity?)... well, at least it's one YSE release with Goa in the title that actually has some real Goa!! AmithabaBuddha
well, at least it's one YSE release with Goa in the title that actually has some real Goa!! 217458 thats the point man!!
Ormion
I have most of the tracks but I want to say a big Bravo to YSE label. Some super classics in this 2cd comp.
Anoebis
That's good news Some classics but all together a strange choice of tracks imo... I have them all tho, so I won't buy it... And don't worry, there will be more melodic goa trance cds in 2005
ukiro
I actually think it's a reasonably good selection, appealing not only to fans of howling goa mayhem ("Pile" is a huge favourite of mine) but also to the more progressive side of the old sound.... obviously with the huge german customer base in mind =) I also guess they're hoping to make this a series and don't want to blow everything on a single compilation. They also have to consider what people already have - They can't be too similar to old tantrance/pulse/goa head/etc, because you can still find those... so putting together a compilation of old goodies is not as easy as it might seem when you consider that you will have to be able to sell it... I've been playing around with this idea for quite some time, wondering what I would put on such a compilation... and I could probably do better than this in theory, but licensing is a tricky matter to be considered as well. I find the sleeve to be horrible, they could have done much better than that. If the promo text is correct that there is a demand for oldies among the party crowds these days, its good news for me as a DJ though =)
Cogumelo
Indoor is very under rated imo. Along with "The Key" the whole album is great. As for the rest some i know some i dont and i really hate the x files by chakra edi mis. But this "History of Goa Trance" is for sure not equal to mine. Unthinkable not to include Pleiadians, Cosmosis, Chi ad, Mfg and so on... Anyway good for newbies

Kabalah is good though. 217437 Well Cinos, they are classics and Kabalah is to me one of the worst in this cd imo. AP always sound very cheese for me. A like the Eternal Basement track, i know it is not really old but is damm cool

NT
Looks nice, but i have alot of tracks already, and why isn't MWNN's Teleport on it? no L.S.D. , Transparent Mind ? hm
Basilisk
The Eternal Basement track is pretty good, sure, but its on Eternity vol 2 and Destination Goa 9 I believe... there is some overkill here, for a "history of trance" album. I think Flying Rhino did it best with the Retrodelica series - those songs were not widely available for the most part, and still quite good. seraph
First disc is stunning ! The ending of it is a bit strange. Second disc has good selection of tracks but they don't go one after another at all. Like a mixture of progressive, psychedelic and goa at the end, but Kabalah and Moonraker are the best there...Still, I am glad they are releasing this kind of thing, no matter I have all tracks myself. Jon Cocco
Yeah, thats really cool that they've released a goa comp. There really are some classic tracks. I wonder why they chose certain tracks over others, as there are tracks that are really big classics whether you liked them or not, while some others seem a bit strange as to why they'd exist on this comp. Yet there are so many great songs, I feel these are not all great or classics, but generally speaking, this is a really cool throw-back to the old days. My favorite tracks on this are: Kabalah - Astral Projection Spiritual Healing - Muses Rapt The Key - Indoor But I have almost all of them, and so probably do most of you. Oh well... Guest Rain
Well no new tracks on this one but cool ... it's good that new commers buying cd's on psyhop and others notice that psytrance is more then astrix & morning fullon...
Guest .::E.P
One good reason for Y.S.E. to release this impressive history edition, compiled by Alexander Ligowski, one of the makers of the time... VIVA Goa-Trance! 217435 Well this guy was a DJ at the time but he never really connected to the Goa thing. And how can he release a remix of mine without even mentioning it's a remix done by me! The tracks are from the time but if I ever had to complie a real classic Goa compilation not many of these tracks would make it onto a CD. Most of them simply aren't real classics and are a bit too "old" to be considered classics in my opinion.
Anoebis
well, afterall, why do we only see re-releases lately? history of goa-trance, the profile-series,... It's great for new people that they have the chance to discover the music, but argh, we may need some new tracks in that style? There is so much good stuff in unreleased-land that is worth a release! Basilisk
I do wonder why no one really connected doesn't put out a "from the vault" sort of compilation with really rare old school and unreleased. Jaia has several nice songs that never made it for example - and who gets to hear them? Not many! Or how about the really rare? Who actually has Mushroomman - Crystaldelic in audio format? or whatever - there's a million examples. I still think the tracks they selected aren't a very good representation at all. Guest Rain
true but big names sell I suppose... I'm just happy with the thought that they re-release... Watching that process start is a positive begin for me... hope it's envolves to what you reply Basilisk
