Guest dam10n Posted May 8, 2002 Posted May 8, 2002 twisted all the way (maybe it's whichever one you hear first - like shpongle.) Quote
Guest ZaRAMaTU Posted May 8, 2002 Posted May 8, 2002 No it's not, dam10n. I bought Twisted many years ago and got The Lone Deranger as a Christmas gift the last year. I say "The Lone Deranger" is MUCH better than Twisted. LSD is the only track that truly does it for me on Twisted, whereas there are many more killers on TLD. OK, maybe Orphic Trench too. But TLD is much more diverse and innovative IMO. Quote
Guest Lifeform Posted May 8, 2002 Posted May 8, 2002 This'll be a huge debate... But i'd have to say The Lone Deranger, just because it's so much more involved and advanced... Yet Twisted is by far the turning point in goa music, and it does rock my socks off everytime i listen to it... Just The Lone Deranger has that pure acidic taste to it. It's completely nuts, the production is A++ quality and the way the tracks lead into each other is completely mind boggling. TLD is was really turned me on to goa... First time i heard it i was "under the influence" and what i experienced off that album is like nothing i ever felt before, or will ever feel again. It is definitly the most worked goa album and it shows ... Nothing can beat that album, and that was in 97 (!!!!!!!) Posfords that man. Maybe one day my dream will come true and be able to get some fresh hallucinogen tracks... Yeah right... : ( Those other guys need to leave him be so he's not tempted to work with other people...) I need stricktly some hallucinogen!!!! I'll stop now... Quote
Strumpling Posted May 8, 2002 Posted May 8, 2002 I enjoy Twisted more - like the Shpongle topic, they're both completely different. I like that ch-ch-ch rattling feeling he sustains throughout much of The Lone Deranger (cha-cha-cha), but I enjoy Twisted a bit more The Peak of Shamanix gives me the most "advanced" video-gamey-feeling I've ever gotten from music, and it blows me away every time -=- Matt/Strumpling -=- the whole Twisted album knocks my socks off Quote
Guest Mindbender Posted May 8, 2002 Posted May 8, 2002 Both brilliant, Twisted even more so. Lauri Quote
Guest Mescalinium Posted May 8, 2002 Posted May 8, 2002 I have always preferred Twisted. In my view, it's as perfect as a trance album gets (much like are you shpongled? does for chill out, which also gets my vote over TOTI). From the brilliant introduction to the amazing ambient secret track, there is not one misplayed note (or knob twiddle or button pressed or effect overlay or... well, you get the idea) in the entire composition. IMveryHO, while still very, very good, i think TLD sacrifices a certain amount of musicality for the sake of psychedelicism (also my opinion on much of the finnish music that comes out today). There is many a moment of unadulterated brilliance, e.g. the dripping sounds around the 3'30" mark in Gamma Goblins to the infamous climax in Jiggle of the Sphinx, but as a whole, I think it loses the story a little at some points. Guest bugbread Posted May 9, 2002 Posted May 9, 2002 I must be the only person who really can't decide. Both. Quote
Guest Inu Posted May 9, 2002 Posted May 9, 2002 The Lone Deranger, for the same reasons Mescalinium said =) Quote
Guest Hale Posted May 9, 2002 Posted May 9, 2002 The Lone Dreanger for sure. Much more complex and "twisted" than Twisted. Nobody came close to it yet, thou there are a lot of good artists and CD-s. Simon, you should realy consider making the third sequel. We are waiting ... Quote
Anoebis Posted May 9, 2002 Posted May 9, 2002 The Lone Deranger because of JIGGLE WITH THE SPHINX Quote
Guest bugbread Posted May 9, 2002 Posted May 9, 2002 Though "Jiggle of the Sphinx" may be my favorite track Quote
Guest opul Posted May 9, 2002 Posted May 9, 2002 Twisted for me without a doubt, but all those votes for the lone deranger are going to make me listen to it again right now Quote
Guest ironmonkey Posted May 10, 2002 Posted May 10, 2002 Orphic Thrench pushes Twisted just past The Lone Deranger. Both are excellent albums that will never lose their appeal or magic. Hallucinogen - LSD on a compilation in '96 is what tuned me into psy/goa. Quote
Guest Ancientz Posted May 13, 2002 Posted May 13, 2002 LONE DERANGER, no doubt, but twisted is GOOD TOO Quote
