What filters do you use?? and is there a better stepfilter alternative than the one in cubase sx?

A rather old one I use is the "Opcode - Fusion Filter", especialy good for very long sweeps. (Up to 60 seconds)......A whole generation of "Filter/Frensh - house" was build on this type of Filter. Very good for Psy-Trance......

yeah i know this one and its great, but i havent got time to check out the possibilities with it......does it work as a nice stepfilter too??

Didnt really use it as stepfilter before. Theres one problem with it, the automation doesnt really work (at least not in Fruity 5). But it has a great sound.

antares filter has a built in sequencer (ie it can also serve as a step filter)
