The Good Old Times Of Melodic & Emotional Goa Trance !

Hello My Brothers & Sisters!

I have a question for you all: when was the last time you felt enlighted while listening to goa trance ? ? ? ?

It seems that nowadays goa trance is more about techno & other non-goa-related issues!

Where are the days when you could come to a party & really enjoy the music & get the positive feedback & vibe from the sounds & the melodies you hear ?

I miss the days of the great underground goa movement, when people did music from the heart. Nowadays, more & more goa & psy artists don't really understand the true concept of goa trance & its messages. They make music just to get famous & therefore they don't put their soul into it ! Am I right ?

I miss the days when people would gather in a forest, with nothing but nature around them & dance to the tribal sounds of goa.

Here are some tracks which are the ultimate example of the true goa sound for me & other old school & melodic goa fanatics:

dimension 5 - iron sun, Talamasca-Sinai, hyperion - sun flower, Shakta & Moonweed-Micronesia, sheyba - ganesh, sheyba - into the fourth dimension, Nemesis-Snake Dance, amanite fx - alfalfa.

I do not want to come to a party & hear some tekno-influenced tracks, with nothing but a steady beat & some fx thrown just for the "rush".

No matter what you say, minimal supporters, your sound is too unreal.

There is no spirit & emotions in your sound. Minimal sounds rather raw & un-emotional.

Some of you would say that trance needs change.

I would answer them that trance WAS perfect the way it used to sound. There is an unlimited world of what one can do with sounds & melodies.

Goa NEEDS progression & all that, but not in the price of losing the melodies & the feeling.

Today's young goa freaks don't even know how melodicold school goa sounds!

This ain't right!

If we want to keep goa trance alive, we have to join hands & bring the old vibe back!

For the sake of the global trance movement, the true hippies & goa minds around the world, we have to save the true goa sound & culture, in order to bring peace & unity & be truly happy & enlighted!

May The Spirit Of God Be With You !

i tend to agree... i like some technoish stuff but nothing compares to the old styles that are full of melody and vibe. i dont get the same effect at parties any more... and i tend to find most of the new stuff i buy to be sneakingly disappointing. i get records and immediately wonder why i even bothered when i have so much good old stuff...

Mescalinium: as a true psy-goa freak i have every single cdcdmdat albumscompilationspromos.

I got rewind by x dream when it still was an unmastered promo cdr.

I am sorry but i dont like it...

It has some padsatmospheres but yet it is too techno-ish & doesn't have any true goa-eastern melodies i like so much.

I tend to agree with psychedelic hippie on some points (not the points about the music style).

As I see it (and other too I asume) the atmosphere in our sceen has completely changed over the last 3 - 4 yers. and as I see it more and more people go to the parties because it's the latest thing and "IN". I am not saying that they shouldn't be allowed in (I will always argue positive for accepting all people) but the whole idea of a party where people are equal is long gone. Today the parties are more about worshipping the "gods" (understood as the artists and dj's). When scenes like the pictures of Erez signing hundreds of signatures to his "groupies" start to make it's way into this scene everyone will have to ask themselves if this is what they want the scene to be like! Do we want our scene to be a place where all people can relax and feel equal without all the popularity competitions or do we want to have a scene like the club scene where people could care less about eachother and only think about themselves? I am not trying to offend anyone here but as I see it the big atrtitude change in our secene arrived when people into techno and the club scene was attracted by the "new" minimalistc sound! - Again I welcome them all but somehow we the older people have forgot to "educate" them and introduce them to our ways of doing parties. But I guess there's no turning back!

Its wierd to hear you use words like "groupie" and "IN" EP. I get the impression in the UK, that we dont suffer this problem as Psy-trance is'nt as big as it once was and so everyone you meet is normally equal, and very few people go to parties "just to look cool"

I also prefer the old sound. But it doesnt mean that the new one is crap.. In fact i like some new stuf too.. and Hippie... There are some really psychedelic things still being made!!! Toi Doi for example!!, And Ra is still making albums i think?

Rumz I agree that UK and places like Belgium, Norway, Italy, Spain, USA, Canada has a small underground scene but in other places such as Greece, Israel, Japan, Denmark, Germany, France ect. ect. the situation is very much like I described. BIG parties whit many "IN" crowd people. That's why I still enjoy the UK scene whenever I am in London :-) ...There's even still some free parties...now that's what I call cool .-)

But if you really want to find the "true" spirit then you need to go to places like Brazil. They still know how to throw excelent parties.

err, Belgium has a big psytrance scene, there are 3 parties every week with local DJ's but also with a lot of international DJ's/Acts and it ain't underground anymore. Belgium is a tiny country but it's bigger then you think ;-).

crap...

There is no psychedelia manual......

grupies there r....but the most of the time we may take the first impression of the people we see...and if u get to know them u may find a punch in the ego nose.

What i see in some posts like this (not everyone) is a super ego...people thinking that they have found the enlightment and the others havent....I cant care less about people going to parties just cuz its IN... i just lend them a smile and sometimes try to make some contact to show them my point of view....and there r always underground scenes...for shure....

mainstream may kiss my groupie ass... i fuqin know what melodic trance is and may really feel it....but i can also enjoy TECHNO, cuz its creation too...cuz its psychedelic for me!

The good vibe u may find everywhere....u just need to be with the right people.

peace and enlightment for us all

How can you say the minimal sound is not spiritual?? I experience more of what you're calling "goa issues" with artists like Chi-AD, Noma, Prex and M.O.S. than the GMS/popular style of now. All music has the ability to move you in a spiritual way. Just because your reality isn't the same as mine doesn't mean both of them aren't legitimate. If you don't enjoy a style of music, don't listen to it. But just because you don't enjoy it doesn't mean it's not as powerful or spiritual as another style of music.

Love & Light,

I think there's an IN crowd within every scene. Some people just dress to impress. not because they feel good in it. I don't think much has changed but the scale of psychedelic trance. When there are bigger parties it is more likely to meat 'in' people than it is in a small crowd. 1/2% of the goa people are really fake people just in there for partying and cheap drugs and maybe even this is a quite low estimate. I don't think all people who visit our cool parties even know anything about the music that is being played. Me and my friend met girls who were into hardhouse but visited psy parties just to trip, they just thought it funny. I don't wanna be the 'elite' guy here, but I don't think I would belong at a party on which I really did not like the music as they did. They just do it to look cool, get some guys off and use drugs. That is, in my point of view, the completely wrong perspective to see psychedelic/goatrance

ah well, just my two cents ( if they make any sense)

well psy hippie... boom shankar... i know how you feel man.,.. i get the same feeling at a lot of parties....... specially sitting here in the u.s, the scene in my town is small but good (i really like the people), but no one has a clue as to what we guys really saw back in the day...... i still catch the vibe once in a while, my favorite parties are in manali, india,,, i heard brazil is good too... goa is dead, but even there sometimes the scene is just right (sometimes).... anyone went to the goa gil party in german bakery over christmas in 2000 will agree.... i don't know man, its not about the fact that i hate the new minimal kids or something, but melodious music takes me to another dimension.... see my post on the morning music section and check out the replies... i guess no one really listens to the golden sound anymore..... the people who were with us took too much acid and have gone away from the scene.. i guess we are a dying race...

i am sometimes saddened, but then i hear some of the music coming out today and i am amazed at how much more complex it has become..... so in the end all i can say is that the energy in the parties has been lost to a great degree, but the music in my opinion is as good as ever... most people today have the attitude that when melodies come it is time to sleep..... how dumb is that?,.. honestly for most hard core outdoor parties i only arrive when it is close to dawn,....

@!#$ you all !

and please don't shut up.

It´s still there!!! it´s going on!!

if you can not put the effort into it then dont blame others !

There is lot of people who risk their whole life for keeping it like everybody thinks it

should be in the place where those people are who might know what they want before it´s possible to recieve, and give it to them !!! If you want something else, then arrange THAT something to be with you and the people who enjoy and live in this THING, but never accept anybody elses trip for your own or we wont see there where i sure wish we would, WE NEED YOU! And not the ones you think of as others in music.

Not a Second to waste!

(you think your life is so long you have time to think what we should do instead of doing??? even a small small thing???)

just kidding

Psychedelic Hippie. I would have loved to be in the scene back in the early 90's but I got into it in 2001. That said maybe I don't know enough to make a judgement on the spirit of this movement but I can tell you from a point of view as a relative new comer that I have found alot of very melodic CD's post 99. I have heard alot of progressive stuff that is very full of a spiritual vibe also. One must not limit themselves. Yes what you said about the infinity of Goa is true. BUT it is only an infinity the way an inch is. You can find endless possiblities in the space yet it is bound by a specific perimeter. There is a unfathomable infinity outside the little inch with out any perimeters. So try to have a more open view on what can be termed PSY.
