Shaft
Hi I need to buy some decent goa/psy albums on CD - I don't have any in my collection, just a load of Cybernetika and one or two IM songs friends sent me. I want to be able to buy these from Chaos Unlimited .co.uk. Please help me make my list: Infected Mushroom - The Gathering / Classical Mushroom / B.P Empire As well as IM, I like stuff by Astral Projection, Space Cat and Cybernetika. Anyone got any recommendations? Edited April 21, 2005 by Shaft

visine
Do some searching. There's a thread like this every week. 248054[/snapback] That's not very nice way of treating someone (I suppose) new. Anyways, looks like you like more "proper" Psy Trance sound with layers. Try to track down Total Eclipse - Violent Relaxation, Dimension 5-Transdimensional, Pleiadians-I.F.O., Man With No Name-The Moment Of Truth, Transwave - Helium, Full On 2 (Hommega), pretty much anything from TIP records prior to 1998. These may be hard to find today. Here are some mor erecent titles that may interest you: Electric Universe-Cosmic Experience, Jupiter 8000-Twisted Blis, Talpa-The art of being non..just to name a few.... Good luck huntin'

Most people would probably agree IM and Amon Tobin aren't quite the same ballpark

You chose We Travel the Spaceways over Atlantis? But the again, most of the Sun Ra stuff I heard was fooking great. Only thing you forgot wa some Steve Reich. hehe talk about mindbending

What's the Psynews.org database for, anyway? Those are just some of the classic psychedelic albums which everyone should hear, IMO. If more of today's psytrance "artists" were aware of the music that came before them (and I am not talking about the same 20 seminal psy albums you listed), I think you would see a lot less awful unimaginative full-on that everybody likes so much to bitch about and a lot more variety in the sound. I think a bit of cross-pollination will only lead to better things. though maybe it does belong in a different thread.

But I don't really want to order a CD and find out I don't like it. Perhaps when I have a better grasp of what characteristics there are say in full on or twisted I might. there's a lot of stuff on the market that for some people is gold, for some people is shit. i say big names can be the basis of your pyramide. i'm not gonna give you big names.. others can to that.. in case you want that! i will if asked. Lol, of course you don't have to give me big names. I just want (as someone else put) the 'proper psy trance sound with layers' - I'm totally against boring, repetitive commercial Eric Prydz dance crap. Ughh..
