seraph
BIOSPHERE - PATASHNIK 1994 APOLLO 1. PHANTASM 2. STARTOUCHER 3. DECRYPTION 4. NOVELTY WAVES 5. PATASHNIK 6. MIR 7. THE SHIELD 8. SETI PROJECT 9. MESTIGOTH 10. BOTANICAL DIMESNIONS 11. CABOOSE 12. EN-TRANCE Here is the second album by this creative norvegian artist. His mucic sounds exactly like from the northern places, calm, steady and chilling. His musical skills are obvious and he is not one of the pioneers that took himself too serious and decided to splash you with immense discography, he rather decided to take it easy and made an album after almost 3 years after first one. This one is quite different than first one cause it is only ambient with 2 trancey tracks. After this album he decided to stay on that ambient track and continue with ambient journeys. First track PHANTASM has nice music but boring repetitive child sample that actually sounds annoying in the end. After that comes more interesting and soothing STARTOUCHER, pretty good, floaty track. DECRYPTION is totally melting with some ethnic influences and calm structure. NOVELTY WAVES is rather faster track with some tribal influences and trance beat, sounds like FSOL at some stages. PATASHNIK is dreamy and very good track. It has nice pads and liquid breakbeat rhythms. MIR is very spacey and trippy. Sounds like it would be good song for 2001 - A Space Odyssey. THE SHIELD is also very spacey, trippy track. It has very clever effects and it is the longest song on the album. I like it a lot. SETI PROJECT is another faster track, with some trancey sounds and effects. It moves some kind of wild but is at the same liquid. MESTIGOTH is very short intermezzo between tracks. BOTANICAL DIMENSIONS is to me one of the best tracks here. Very trippy and smooth and you actually feel like you are in the middle of the forest. CABOOSE has some dub elements and it is generic but rather minimalistic. EN-TRANCE is actually not that entrancing and I could even call it some kind of new age track cause it has guitar followed by some gentle, cozy sounds. Not such a good ending but nevermind, album as a whole is pretty good...8/
