well first of all i want to tell you what makes me put this topic. back in 1998 i went for the first time to a trance party. the live act was kox box. at the end of the party and my first lsd trip, the friend who i went with, amazed as i was, told me "this is the music of the future, in a few years, even the kids will listen psycho". well, for us it was true... the music was, more than anything, something really diferent that we have heard before, and it had an element of mighty and that make us feel as no other music never did before. 3 years later, and so many parties after, and many lsd trips, i went to a SBK party out of town. to me it was clear as water.... the music wasnt magic and never surprised as once did. to me it was like a pot that flip-flap on the floor. plang! plang! plang!... the simple idea of eat and lsd in the party was scared for me. well yesterday i went to a party where shiva chandra was the live act and main artist. this was the 3rd time i listen to him and as my favourite psyartist i decide to tribute him and eat again lsd in a party. well i dance happy and it will be a lie if tell you i wasnt fun, but now im shure that this music will not make any magic change, or will evol in something that will take us to another state of mandkind like the rock did it not so many years ago. well i think thats because the main aspect of trance, is also the principal thing that doesnt let this music take other ways. the bass line chain this music in a circle. well thats what i think... what do you think?

the future of psytrance is the minimal/progressive emotionless boring repetitve @!#$ which works well in clubs, and yes the true spirit has been lost, goa is dead. Nowadays the labels/artists/promoters/party organizers are only looking for money and they try to attract more people so they can make more money. psy will end up being crap mainstream music!!! and @!#$ you all who hate gms!!!!

well i just want to say that im not talking about this war between minimal and melodic trance, im trying to say that in minimal and melodic, always the exit is in the same way, after been in some place in heaven, or under the sea or outer space, another doors open and starts.... pum pum pum pum, just breaks and enters.... when we´ll something really different?

Im sorry to write that but what you say is true .Listen to nomad from 3dvision or to the new stuff from gms and you will recognize this pum hum pum hum ....I spent lot of my time in searching new stuff that gives something new to psytrance and I find sometimes pure jewels like In Sekt or Cubica.

I understand what is being said here, - psytrance is getting old.. ok so its almost 10 years old... thus to some people it gets boring and all the same...

I happends to every type of music, you hear a style so much it gets old and boring, I find pop music boring... others may find rock music boring.... By the very definition some thing cannot stay new forever !!!

ok, let´s not forget that psychedelic trance is suposed to be a mental kind of music or more like a music that get´s to your heart, mind, soul or which ever part that touches you, and that is the reazon that I think psychedelic trance is no longer beeing psychedelic any more.

Technologi is at the hand of everybody now, and everybody can make music in this days. So, the way I see planty of bands in this days are just a bunch of kids that started to make psytrance after their first party/LSD trip, but they know sh!t about the real vibe of this music and they are fuckkking it. That is also one of the reasons that I think progressive and minimalistic styles have grown... I know that to make a real psychedelic minimalistic tune you have to well know where to put every sound and what kind of sound but that don´t matter ´cus most of the minimal/progressive stuff that I have heard has non of those elements...

The full on sceen is more like descent but not enough psychedelic...

At a party the feeling gets lost ´cus I see people going to partys just to get high as sh!it whit out a problem ´cus no body is going to say nothing about that... PLUR gets confussed with libertinate.

But still ther are some bands that know how to twist people´s minds IMO. Bands like Charasmatix, Igneous Sauria, Wrecked Machines, Paps, Logic Bomb, Kox Box/Saiko Pod, Tripiatrik, Nerve, MOS, and some others are still makeing music with that same feeling/vibe than the old days... IMO

i think that the recess in the goa spirit is stopping this time.. i am not in the scene too long but i know exactly what you people are talking about, i am getting bored by the 60% of the new music i happen to hear.. But, new party promoters are coming out here an there who appreciate the true feelings of trance - goa and there are a bunch of new really small labels that are trying to make it through by bringing new sounds in trance ... This i think is the new twist of goatrance....

Well, all I can say is don't expect people to agree with you hach, you after all on a site for fans of the genre goa/psychedelic/minimal/progressive trance, and most probably don't think the same as you...

Guest sam i am

I think there are some interesting things coming from the psytrance scene that will gradually get more recognition. There are full on crazy night sounds that are new and different getting made by the likes of Parasense, Muschaw and the Grapes of Wrath - baselines that move, powerful, zapping synth sounds and driving percussion. There's the melodic wickedness and funky creativity of people like Pelinpala, Benza & Texas Faggott - spiralling melodies with mild funky flavaz. To me, these are the modern incarnations of what was "Goa" trance, morning and night. Where it will go from here is everywhere, just depends on what part of the scene u want to look at.

To me, the above represents the underground which will slowly seep towards the surface, but by the time it gets there, something else will be developing in the depths below.

No-one can say for sure where things are going, but I think it'll continue to get more complex (and hopefully crazier) as does the technology.

Oklidokli then,

Peaz to u all

Sam

Hehe...I just realized a possible "cause" of this problem...Kinda amusing.

You're all becoming mainstream!

What I mean is, many of the older fans got into these really tiny, unknown labels producing new, interesting stuff. However, ALL bands get worse over time. Think about Pink Floyd: their old stuff was GREAT, but after a while it went downstream, and now it's mediocre at best. Everyone who got into these little labels at the start are still expecting those labels to produce the best stuff, and people who got into little psy parties are still expecting those parties to be great, even though they've gotten big.

What people should be doing, if they like creativity, etc., is continually looking at the small stuff. The new stuff (and I don't mean "New artists on Flying Rhino & Tip", I mean, "New stuff by some new artist on a label I've never even heard of") is where all the invention and feeling is going on. As psy has gone mainstream, the music has also gone mainstream, but as in all genres, there are still indie labels and little parties, and THAT's where the good stuff is now. And, yes, in 10 years, those labels and parties will suck too, and you'll have to look AGAIN. You can't wait for good music to come to you, you must find it, otherwise you're following the same pattern as MTV watchers.

A good example of an underground label with really creative, killer stuff is Parvati. Check out their new comp. Psychedelically Yours. Much of it is amazing!

Actually, I was gonna mention DemonTea, PsyHarmonics, and Parvati, but I figured it might be too tailored to my personal tastes. Parvati is indeed excellent, though.
