Guest antic
Came back from my week-long holidays yesterday, and when I opened my mailbox it felt like Christmas Shamanic Tribes On Acid - 303 To Infinity CD (Kinetix) http://www.discogs.com/release/308499 I bought it despite very critical comments STOA got on this board. It's not a bad CD, but the music is definitely weird, with really low production level sometimes and needs time to get used to. If I had to compare it to something else, I'd name Ubar Tmar's True as fairly similar in that they're both "random" and "strange". Don't know if I like it yet, though Hallucinogen - Mi-Loony-Um! CD5" (Twisted) http://www.discogs.com/release/27235 What can I say, it's Simon P. so it ought to be good. However, I only like the title track and Beautiful People. I can't understand what this Oliver Lieb's "remix" is doing there - it's pathetic, childish and crappy... Thanks God for "Skip" button Beast - Spawn/Trouble EP CD5" (Twisted) http://www.discogs.com/release/197193 Damn. Too bad Sean Williams is no more active in goa/psy scene, because what he did here with Simon P. and on his two artist albums is beyond belief! Process' tracks alone are tippy & psychedelic, but with Simon's touch they become melodic too - it's one of the best collaborations in goa/psy history Growling Mad Scientists - Chaos Laboratory CD (Hadshot Haheizar) http://www.discogs.com/release/161303 The Scientis's music, before they started calling themselves 'GMS' was fresh, innovative and really psychedelic... To bad they changed their style to mass-production full-on in recent years. This album is a real gem though. And I got it for 20GBP shipped too, so it's even better V/A - Fill Your Head With Phantasm Vol. 3 CD (Phantasm) http://www.discogs.com/release/183482 Third chapter of Phantasm's compilations, with their typical hard, twisty and psychedelic sound. Some lovely tracks there V/A - Trance4mations 4xCD (Rumour) http://www.discogs.com/release/166552 I know what you think when you see 'Rumour' and '4xCD' in one sentence. But this is different - take a look at the tracklisting! All tracks were licensed from Phantasm, so there's a lot of well-known names like Mindfield, Bamboo Forest, Somaton, Darshan, OOOD, Lunar Asylum, Dimension 5, Double Dragon, Shakta etc... The list continues. Even if there is couple of weak tracks, there's still a lot of very good ones. For 15GBP shipped, I won't complain I'll post back in a few days, when another batch will see my mailbox

Charlie
Beast - Spawn/Trouble EP CD5" (Twisted) http://www.discogs.com/release/197193 Damn. Process' tracks alone are tippy & psychedelic, but with Simon's touch they become melodic too - it's one of the best collaborations in goa/psy history 574279[/snapback] Couldn't agree more. It's easily one of my favourite psy tunes and screams with passion and emotion. Forget so-called forest psy and what's become accepted as dark psy, this is real dark psy in the truest sense of the word. Twisted themselves sum it up best, when they say - This is our heartfelt response to the general lack of any discernable feeling in trance music today. we have sweated blood and worked our fingers to the bone in order to present these two tracks of incredible beauty and psychedelic warmth that catapult the listener into the next dimension of sonic ecstacy and ensure total dancefloor mayhem every time or your money back!!! but seriously: beast combines the inventive spatial-techno style of process with the luxurious production and immaculate structuring that only hallucinogen can deliver. we at twisted firmly believe that this ep is our strongest to date and is merely a hint of what is to come. minimal techno has an important role to play and we are aware of this, but this release is an example of just what is possible when real musicians pull out all the stops to produce the most advanced music available. Jikkenteki
Finally got some new music for the first time in awhile. Kind of a strange mix but today's package contained... Guest antic
Some stuff to make the heat more bearable Tromesa - Gdyby... (Polstar) http://www.discogs.com/release/581956 I stupidly traded it to Vlnik in March, thinking that it'll be easy to buy back since it was released (only) in Poland. Well, it took me over four months to track it down and it wasn't cheap either, but it's worth every penny - colorful, psychedelic music with mixed arabic/goaish & techno influences V/A - TIP Orange (TIP) http://www.discogs.com/release/33089 Well, it doesn't need any comments, right? Doof, Green Nuns, Astral Projection (when they were on top form), Psychaos, Hallucinogen, The Infinity Project - those names need no introduction. However, it's my second copy, so I'll gladly trade it for something equally valuable & rare. The disc and inlays are in mint condition UX - Ultimate Experience http://www.discogs.com/release/52215 I guess this one needs no comment too. One of the best old-school releases, highly trippy, layered, beautifully melodic, but more on the dark side than most of the releases from that time. It's a Dragonfly release, so it means that my NovaTekk's version (mint) is for trade now X-Dream - Panic In Paradise (Tunnel) http://www.discogs.com/release/203355 Love it. It's a compilation made by Tunnel to cash in on X-Dream's popularity after they left for BlueRoom, however it does not imply it's bad. Actually, the tracks they have chosen are one of the best X-Dream's music I've heard. They're from the period after 'We Created Our Own Happiness' was released, so they are more melodic / acidy than techy. Wonderful release
