Guest Mindbender
Well... One thing I'm sure that influenced my view was that I wasn't stoned, which is rare in parties. [i'm on a 2 month break from smoking]. I arrived just when Deedrah started. Great music, no doubt. However, I wish he had played live versions of the tracks... Now he could have just as well been DJing his own tracks, as the versions were identical with the released versions. But I shouldn't complain about it too much, for I love Deedrah's music. Then came GMS. I'm not generally too fond of GMS, because I think their music sounds too much the same and after an initial love for their music, it quicky lost its interest. BUT, I was blown away by their live set. It was really LIVE, which is great and the music was great. Maybe I've been avoiding GMS long enough to love them again, but this did sound fresh. I think I'll get the new album. Anyway, you probably know that GMS is more for parties than home (very hard) and it worked super-well. Then I was ready for some chilling and I chilled out with Rumz for most of the DJ set after GMS. Then was time for Dado again as Synthetic. Well, it's techno, no surprise there, and while individual tracks could could have been nice, I got a bit bored after 30-40 mins of (almost) only rhythm. About the party in general: Loads and loads of people. I guess the names attracted most of the psy people, but I think that the collaboration with Antiworld gathered a few thousand techno people as well. I prefer more intimate parties with people who are more into our scene. The place was... well, nice. Been to better, been to worse. I guess a lot of the deco was from Antiworld, so it was 50% psy, 50% fluro-techno. The place was freaking hot, more ventilation needed. The dance floor was crowded, not enough space to dance properly and most people weren't dancing like Shivas which took away a bit of the atmosphere. The sound system wasn't lacking in power... In fact a bit less would have been nicer, as I don't want my tinnitus to get worse but I hate earplugs... Should've had some there. The EQing was more for techno than psy, as usual. The chill-out was too loud as well.. Had to go to an empty room (good that they had those). The place was otherwise good, different. Never been partying in such a high room, with the ceiling in 20m or so (old theatre, with a big balcony). Lots of nice stalls to buy UV-necklaces and stuff. Ofcourse you also had the nice psy-people there in between as well. Music was good. I guess that's about it... In the end I think I had a bit too high expectations, which is why I was partially dissapointed and why I'm complaining here. It was a good party, but I was expecting something amazing. But the atmosphere wasn't wonderful... As it should be in those greater-than-life parties. Lauri
Guest Rumz
Well, I had a really good night. I met a lots of new people and lots of old friends I had not seen for a while... i didnt think there was anything wrong with the people there. Deedrah was amazing.. played some real old skool tracks... man i was sooo happy about that... the rest ofhis set was hard, but still very good. GMS and Sythetic were good too, GMS were not as monotonous as they can be and I thought synthetic was very very squelchy and evil sounding. Hard.... ummm... yes (apart from teh old skool bit in the deedrah set) BUt then it was put on by antiworld who are a hardhouse get up. so i guess that they wanted it pretty hard to keep all of their punters aswell as the extra psyfreaks they were gonne get with the live acts.
