Guest stringtheory
I just recently got Infected Mushroom "The Gathering", and I must say it is wicked great stuff! It is very psychedelic, but in a minimal way. Creates a kind of background ambience also, intertwined within the traditional psytrance framework. Guest bugbread
If you like the minimal aspect of it, listen to BPEmpire and skip Classical Mushroom (I personally like Classical Mushroom best, but it is VERY far from minimal)

Guest bugbread
Heheh...It's minimal for IM, but not minimal in general. But I can see where he's coming from. I found BPEmpire to be pretty minimal, but compared to Son Kite, sure, it's a whirlwind of complexity. NP: Cygnus X - Orange Mix
Guest Peaceful Warrior
I really love Infected Mushroom. One of the very best in my opinion. One thing I would recommend to you is not to listen too much to people's opinions on things. I know you are just trying to get an idea and that is good.( I ask for people's opinions all the time) but don't take them to heart too much. Ultimately, it is better to just go take a listen on mp3.com, Psyshop, trancetrax or any of the other shops to get an idea if it is something you like. I heard so many people say that Infected Mushroom's third album B.P. Empire was not as good as their first two albums and that infact it wasn't very good at all. But when I listened to it I was blown away. Here was not a weak album or an inferior album as so many people were saying, but one of the most masterful albums I have heard. It turns out that for me it is the best of all three of their albums. So anyway you may agree with me or you may not. There is really only one way to find out and that is to have a listen yourself. Guest JanUa
i'm with you Peaceful Warrior ... BP-empire is really a masterpiece, still enjoying it almost every day... the structures of the songs on this album are so perfect ... if you would change one thing the power of the song would be lost ... one word for this album ..... !complete! Guest bugbread
I guess I have to agree: listen to people's artist recommendations to some degree, but not so much the album recommendations. NP: Nothing - I'm at work.
Guest stringtheory
Thanks for the imput Peaceful Warrior. It is appreciated. I agree with you completely. My judgements on whether or not I like something, or whether it is good, are not based on others opinions. Being that I am relatively new to psytrance(not completely new though), there are alot of great artists I am sure I have not been exposed to yet. That is why I ask for recommendations for albums and artists. I am just trying to learn what else is out there.

Guest bugbread
Actually, if you're really that new to the scene, listen to the albums in red on the Reviews pages. Those have been chosen by majority concensus (a big poll), so it means a lot of people like them. If you can, I really would recommend listening before buying, especially at first, as you won't know names/connections between artists yet, and you could end up buying a LOT of stuff you dislike. Once you know the type of music you're looking for, it gets easier, and you can start buying stuff without hearing it without just throwing out your money. Guest Peaceful Warrior
No problem Stringtheory. I hope it didn't come off as if I thought you were doing something wrong by asking for opinions. After I read my post I thought you might misunderstand it and I thought that what I said was kind of obvious and so it might have been like preaching to the choir. Anyway, I think asking the guys on this forum and reading the reviews is an excellent way to gain a little perspective and to pick up a few clues as to what might be good. Like Bugbread said, checking out the red-highlighted albums in the review section is a good idea because those are albums that almost everyone (or at least a high %) thinks are very good. Bugbread also mentioned that after a while you will know what kind of stuff you like and when you do, reviews that give a description of the type of sound that a piece of music has will become more useful. Unfortunately some people only state whether they thought it was good or bad, but not why they thought it was good or bad. So anyway if you ever have something to say about an album please share it with us and also if you ever want to get some opinions about a song or an album please ask. I will be glad to give as detailed information as I can. I am sure many of the other guys will be glad to do so as well. To JanUa: Hey man, it sounds like you have a similar taste in music to me. I really like your list of recomendations!
Guest stringtheory
Thanks peeps. Much Respect and Appreciation ! Peaceful Warrior: I enjoy reading your posts and opinions. Always feel free to say what is on your mind. I am not one to get angry by what others say very often. There is nothing better than freedom of expression!
