i know some scales[minor/major/prhygian etc]... my question is... how would you use them in e.g goa? 1 octave? 2 octaves? just going up or up & down? i hope you understand me :)

I don't really understand.

If you make a song in a scale, you can use any note in the scale anytime you want. but beware of chords aswell. I dont know if i helped you at all there...

yeah ofcourse i know this,i've finished classical music theory & harmony, i mean in case in a psy track someone wants to play the full scale, all it's notes as a scale...

I am classical educated too (a long time ago) and i never think about scales or theory when I make music. Sure it's good to knwo the different keys and what tones that fit together (harmonies) but generally I just play around until I find something i like. It's as simple as that and in my opinion way more creative than sticking to theories, scales and those boxed in rules (from classical music in general) that i experienced do not mix very well with creativity.

yeah m8 that's what i use to do too...

but i'd like to play around having something a bit more specific in my mind... :)

 

also i recently had a wicked idea of trying to create a psy track with some classical harmony [ i mean some goa melodies and the rest voices would generally follow some rulez...]
