Well... Which song makes you think " oh my god... this sounds so cheesy and cheap" (and no Nitzhonot)! ;-))

Well, since yesterday I know for sure its Yahel ft Jörg - Noushka

lalalala, *bweurk*

Also GMS's Star Wars is extrémely cheesy imo...

What do you call cheesy!?

Anything by Space Tribe; the huge melodies and the annoying samples =).

Yahel does a lot of great stuff, and Jorg does a lot of great stuff, but Naushka is SO naff. It's a shame they had to do that to Nausicaa.

There are so many godawful cheesy tracks that it makes no sense, but lucky us we get to decide what we want to hear. :-)

In my opinion the most cheesy track is Tortured Brain- Sweet Dreams, i really doesn't do it for me, i heard it a month ago for the first time, and i have to say it's an awfull remix...( :

I also just realised that there is only a véry thin line between cheesy and magical emotional melodic stuff!!

Yahel - For the People for example...

some would call it cheesy... I call it BEAUTIFUL!! ;-))

come on my friends, how could you overlook the greatest stinking brick of cheese trance ever spat out: jorg and erez's shiva shidapu--the power of the celtic!!!!

the cheesiest thing i have ever seen at a trance party was having the incredible luck/misfortune of watching Jorg play this track at a Tokyo club while waving a gigantic plastic Viking sword in the air. I didn't know whether puke or piss myself! In the end, I chose simply to leave the room.

And bugbread, we have had some friendly disagreements in the past, but i have to draw the line here. What in the name of sweet jesus has jorg ever done that didn't truly suck, so say nothing of achieve greatness? His dj sets are beyong unlistenable (after all these years, he still hasn't made the slightest attempt to learn how to dj, beat-mix, eq, etc), but his own music is ever worse.

Digital karma - Trancefusion - Ultra cheese and totally crap to boot.

Taken from the album HYPER SOUND not one of my better purchases.

I love melodic trance but this album is pure comedy.

Russ:

Angel Johnathan (sp). If you dislike that track, then we are on completely asymptotic wavelengths. And I've only seen him DJ once (at VQ last year), but the mixing seemed fine and the track selection was terrifically grindy and frantic. I thought it was an excellent set. Like I've said, I've not seen his other stuff, so I don't know if that was the exception or the rule.

But a viking sword? Ack...

Still, I often think on the other side that the new proggy folks take themselves too damn seriously on stage...They look like goths without the makeup, with their downtrodden "We are serious artistes" faces...If they weren't playing psy, I feel that a lot of them would be attending poetry recitals wearing turtlenecks and discussing their angst. Not that a viking sword is all that much better, but you know what I mean...I think.

oh yeah, another one...."psysex: evil turkeys" - the ultimate in cheeeesiness. one of the first times i got really embarrassed for playing psytrance really loud was with this song, actually the whole first album is jam-packed with cheesiness.

hey bugbread,

i've never heard of this angel jonathan track. where can i give it a listen?

and about the proggy goths...lol...i know what you are talking about...not much of a choice between a goth and a viking is there? but not all proggies are goths:) watch dj Fabio play. he doesn't stop bouncing up and down, even when he is mixing--the guy gets into such a groove it is almost surreal to watch. this is totally off the point, but for stage charisma, my favorite dj my far is james monro! he gets so into his sets and looks like he is having so much fun! but i guess this should be another topic...
