Guest 1300 mics
If you insult infected then you obviously aren't too familiar with psycho trance, they are the real deal I don't know what kind of "psycho-trance" you listen to but honestly you must have horrible taste in music. And also if you don't believe me go see them live, I have seen them twice then tell me they aren't worth @!#$ because after you see them live you know what they are all about. Guest v4K
dude, BP Empire sounds and rythms are SO FULL OF CHEES that it gaves me problems when I go and sh!t, just like real chees does... 1300 mics: In fact I consider IM a mainstream act and you should know that liveing in Mexico too... psy-trance it's about psychedelic sounds, souds that @!#$ woth your head, no cheesey melodies/rythms... live that to a club or something
Guest bugbread
If you insult Infected Mushroom, I respect you. I love them (second only to Hallucinogen and Shpongle), but if you can insult someone with that much stature and support, it shows that you're thinking for yourself and not just accepting bands based on their fame or support. As for them being cheesy: Personally, I find that they skate the line close but expertly, never hitting the cheese boundary. They have too much talent to be cheesy, but any other lesser bands trying to use the same techniques (using a harpsichord, or using a Depeche Mode melody as the main melody of a song) would crash and burn into a cheese factory directly on takeoff. Even their bad stuff is bad not because of cheesiness, but because of being too minimal. Guest peaceful warrior
But of course you would say that Bugbread, you seem to hate any space in music. Does every second have to be packed with sound? As far as respecting v4k for having a negative view of Infected.. "if you can insult someone with that much stature and support, it shows that you're thinking for yourself and not just accepting bands based on their fame or support". First of all he did not support his negative statement. He merely stated that he thought "BP Empire sounds and rythms are SO FULL OF CHEES that it gaves me problems when I go and sh!t, just like real chees does..." Oh that sounds really intelligent! And as far as him thinking for himself...how do you get that? There are always those who express a contrary opinion just to be non-conformist. And it seems that it is quite popular right now to have bad things to say about Infected Mushroom. I see nothing original or intelligent about his comment. And as far as understanding that stupid word "cheese" (or at least a word that is used very stupidly) well I have given up. THAT WORD IS ABSOLUTELY MEANINGLESS! It has never helped me understand what the music reviewer is trying to say about the music. There are many more useful words that have more precise meanings. Ex. PREDICTABLE, BORING, IMMATURE, MUNDANE, SOFT, RETRO, TOO HAPPY, ACCESSABLE etc. All of these words (and more) seem to be what some people mean when they use the word "cheesey". So please people, if you truly want to communicate your viewpoint please avoid using that word. It seems only to be a word for criticizing something when you don't know how to give precise descriptions in your critique.
Guest bugbread
Peaceful Warrior: "Does every second have to be packed with sound?" - For me, yes. Sorry, that's where personal tastes come in. "Oh that sounds really intelligent!" - Hey, I never said he sounded intelligent or well thought out. I just said I respected his decision to think for himself. Other than that, yeah, he sounds like a dork. My comment wasn't entirely about v4K. In fact, it was mainly in response to 1300 Mics saying "If you insult Infected Mushroom then you obviously aren't too familiar with psycho trance". I would have posted my post the same even if v4K hadn't said anything. "There will always be those who express a contrary opinion just to be non-conformist" - Yeah, but think about it this way: how many people have you actually seen say that "Hallucinogen is crap"? It rarely happens. It's "Cool" to dislike AP, etc., but it seems that often IM and Hallucinogen lie in the area of untouchable. Plus, again, my response was directed at 1300 Mics. It was coincidence that v4K posted before I could post my response. Regarding cheese: "THAT WORD IS ABSOLUTELY MEANINGLESS" - Well, that's weird, because except for the person who said the new X-Dream was cheese, I understood everybody's responses, and even if I didn't find the tracks cheesy, I understood why they thought they were cheesy. Anoebis, Hoffy, Space Monkey, EP, OA, Bugsy, russ, Mindtwister, Sudh1r, Raindancer, Atomic Elf, lespagnol, Wormwoodmaterix, Setsuko, Slidingtrancer, and Strumpling all posted songs which, even if I disagreed about the end result, had elements that I could see as fitting my idea of "cheesy". KS is the only person whose tracks I knew but didn't understand the cheese factor. "PREDICTABLE, BORING, IMMATURE, MUNDANE, SOFT, RETRO, TOO HAPPY, ACCESSABLE" - These are all great words to use, but none of them to me mean cheese, per se. I mean, Holy Men is cheese. I think EVERYONE here would agree with that. But can that meaning be conveyed with the words above? I don't feel so. They use the theme to Beverly Hills Cop in one song. That isn't predictable, nor is it boring. It's immature. It's not mundane, soft, or retro. It may be too happy. In a perverse way, it is not accessible. So does "immature and too happy" convey the unique feeling of a bad synth playing Beverly Hills Cop in a goa song? Not quite. Does cheesy? Perfectly. If you understand the word cheesy, it's extremely communicative and useful.
Guest KS
bugbread read anoebis's first post... he said no nitzo... that is why i never put up holymen..... and in my post i said i like x-dream.... i only think peter hoovers is cheesy.. and if you think skazi, yahel, gms - star wars are not cheesy, then all i can say is that you are personally attacking me for the sake of it... this is the second post... dude let it go... btw.. i have been listening to this music for 6 years now... i have listened to it enough to form my own opinions.... do not ever try and push your views on someone else.. and stop all this negative feeling is your mind.. you have too much anger in you.... i dunno but there is a style in your replies that resonates utter contempt for the fellow individual.... Guest bugbread
KS: Sorry, I agree about gms - star wars and yahel. Haven't listened to skazi, so I don't know. It's only X-Dream that I don't get. I'm not attacking you. I'm sure you're a swell guy. I don't understand your definition of cheese, that's all. I also don't think someone should have said Holymen. I know it says no Nitzhonot. But Peaceful Warrior said "cheesy has no meaning", so I made an exception to point out the absolute cheesiest. Anoebis said to not use Nitzohonot because it was too obvious and easy (all Nitzhonot is cheesy). But since I was trying to explain cheesiness, using Nitzohonot as an example was the obvious choice. 1300 Mics: I'm calling v4K a dork.
