Cybernetika Posted June 29, 2005 Posted June 29, 2005 Alright. I'll keep it short: I'm looking for the most original basslines because I need some inspiration. So which tracks/artists make the most innovative use of basslines in your opinion? Quote
Basilisk Posted June 29, 2005 Posted June 29, 2005 The winner is still X-Dream's remix of Life Is by Koxbox. Although what I've got on now is pretty sick as well - Llopis with Lobster Tan. Ryan Halifax is doing some dirty bidness these days as well... jeah Quote
seraph Posted June 29, 2005 Posted June 29, 2005 OFORIA - UPLIFTER X - DREAM - PANIC IN PARADISE DODGY CONNECTION - OFF LIMITS ASTRAL PROJECTION - VISIONS OF NASCA DELTA - AS A CHILD I COULD WALK ON THE CEILING Quote
RAH Posted June 29, 2005 Posted June 29, 2005 i concur Halifax does know his bass... check out "Pimp my Bass" in a vinyl collaboration with Dawg, EP is called 'La Puta Bonita' thats rather on the slow side though. even though is nothing ground breaking i loved the bass lines EVP and Error Corrective are pulling out (V/A - Wild Rumpus)... not much else jumps out at me at this point Quote
ukiro Posted June 29, 2005 Posted June 29, 2005 X-Dream have always experimented, even though most people think of a straight 16th note bassline when speaking of them... But just skip through the tracks on Irritant and compare the bass styles and you'll see what I mean. But as for the craziest bass work ever, I will vote for Procs - it's really TOTALLY different from everything else. Man I can't wait for his album... gonna try to catch him live again this weekend too. Quote
Manuser Posted June 29, 2005 Posted June 29, 2005 benza - bowling for weirdos i don't know if the bassline is taken from another track (disco track or something) or if it's pure original. Quote

Guest antic Posted June 29, 2005 Posted June 29, 2005 But as for the craziest bass work ever, I will vote for Procs Who is this "Procs"?! I've never heard of a psytrance artist by this name... Maybe you could provide some links or more info about him? Thanx Quote
NT Posted June 29, 2005 Posted June 29, 2005 I'd also like to add: Quasar , ultra heavy basslines! (and when i mean ultra heavy, i mean ultra heavy... sick psycho mean nasty basslines) just check out the songs on VA - Karmageddon & VA - Booo .. Quote
Daniël Posted June 29, 2005 Posted June 29, 2005 Procs & kindzadza are my favorite basslinemasters . I also like the finnish, almost melodie-like, basslines. kindzadza's music is centered around the bassline, but he's the only artist that can keep his music interesting that way. His bass is really rare. Procs is more musical then kindzadza. Check out psycho forest , Jerry, Här är din framtid (what a name ) & tropical treasure by procs. Very good basslines. But be aware, his sound is addicitive. Dark psychedelic proggy & experimental psy use the best basslines imo. Quote

Towelie Posted June 29, 2005 Posted June 29, 2005 cant really say theres any really innovative bass in trance music Quote
Frontier Psychiatrist Posted June 29, 2005 Posted June 29, 2005 Scorb and Panick for Full On Simon Posford for pure Psy mayhem Vibrasphere and Etnoscope for Progressive Flea for everything else. Quote
Manuser Posted June 29, 2005 Posted June 29, 2005 i always thought the most simple basslines were the best ones also. Today i was listening to Phony orphants - dead expressing (Track2 on Symphony) I simply love that basslines, one of my favourites ! Quote
Prio Alea Posted June 29, 2005 Posted June 29, 2005 I really like the bass in X-dream - Intercorporal Stimulator. I'll see if I can remember some more. Quote
qa2pir Posted June 29, 2005 Posted June 29, 2005 I enjoy basslines that focus on the 4th instead of offbeats. I can give an example Geomantik by Prana has a great bass that seems to go with the kick, instead of (as most full-on) being most loud right between the kicks. That makes a groovy, cool bassline. I don't know if im 100 % correct annyway... But that track has a cool and different bassline anyhow (and is good overall). Quote
cryion Posted June 29, 2005 Posted June 29, 2005 Space Tribe/Hallucinogen - In the Hands of the Shaman aaand i love the bassline in Dark Nebulas Machine of Lum the Mad Quote
