Manuser Posted July 13, 2005 Posted July 13, 2005 generally i am more into albums, even though the tracks sound obviously more similar to each other. and you? Quote
DeathPosture Posted July 13, 2005 Posted July 13, 2005 Albums too... But compilations can be equally good... Quote
spifer jo Posted July 13, 2005 Posted July 13, 2005 I vote for albuns too... But Compils are a good choice if u want to have an idea about a sub-genre. It gives you a picture of whats going on. I enjoy both... the problem this days is the quality. Quote
Indred Cold Posted July 13, 2005 Posted July 13, 2005 I listen to mix Cds the most but have way more albums then comps so albums. The problem with compilations is they almost never have songs you would listen to all the time. They are good for finding new artists to listen to though so they can be good that way. Quote
RAH Posted July 13, 2005 Posted July 13, 2005 i think i like listening to compilations (and reviewing them for that matter) a bit more... but is always nice surprice to hear a good album. Quote
Time_Trap Posted July 13, 2005 Posted July 13, 2005 your poll lacks an option - "Both". anywayz i have mostly albums but compilations can be equally good as well... but usually an album is more :"tied together" if you know what i mean. Quote
Guest Le Lotus Bleu Posted July 13, 2005 Posted July 13, 2005 Sometimes albums tell a whole story along tracks but compilation never or very rarely depends on the coherence, evolution & order of tracklist , so a little preference to albums. Quote
Manuser Posted July 13, 2005 Author Posted July 13, 2005 your poll lacks an option - "Both". 296746[/snapback] it was done on purpose because you always have a preference. Quote
Guest The Journey Man Project Posted July 14, 2005 Posted July 14, 2005 Compilations... albums get boring fter a while, compilations have more variety and moe opportunity to discover new sound... sticking with my favourites alway gets sooo boring so quick! Quote
seraph Posted July 14, 2005 Posted July 14, 2005 I like them both but a little bit more albums cause of their concept. Quote
Trolsk Posted July 14, 2005 Posted July 14, 2005 I prefer albums because the artist has a chance to tell a story, or at least create a good flow. Compilations rarely manages to tell a story or create a flow, most of the time it's just a bunch of tunes next to each other, and I find that very annoying. Quote
alpha Posted July 14, 2005 Posted July 14, 2005 I don't know really.. albums can be great throughout if the artist has put a lot of effort to it, but usually there's just too little variation. Comps on the other hand can be very good but often they're just a bunch of tracks thrown on the same disc with no connection between the tracks. So it basically all comes down to the individual release. Quote
traveller Posted July 14, 2005 Posted July 14, 2005 if the compilation doesn't say "twisted" it probably sucks so albums in general.. Quote
benf52 Posted July 14, 2005 Posted July 14, 2005 albums ... more work goes into them.. but some trax are great on comp as well... Quote
PsyGoatDelic Posted July 14, 2005 Posted July 14, 2005 albums for sure! every other shit head can release compilations... albums are more of an effort Quote
Oopie Posted July 14, 2005 Posted July 14, 2005 Albums albums AL-BUMS! All the way! I don't find the best compilations out there even near as good as the best albums. Quote
Guest .::E.P Posted July 14, 2005 Posted July 14, 2005 albums all the way.. 99% of the compilations are compiled by amatures that just want to be the next hot shot DJ Quote

That was very, very good compilation. Since then thou they haven't released a single good album/compilation Quote
McKennaDMT Posted July 14, 2005 Posted July 14, 2005 Both actually. I'm currently in the process of trying to get all of Interchill compilations. They don't have one bad compilation. Talisman is currently my favorite. McKennaDMT Quote

Guest .::E.P Posted July 14, 2005 Posted July 14, 2005 It's fun to see that the votes mostly goes for albums here while the same question was asked on isratrance and there 95% said compilations.... Quote
Cinos Posted July 14, 2005 Posted July 14, 2005 Albums, since they are the full thing while compliations feel more like "demos" and leave me hungering for more. Quote
