Guest carbon
as an ex-maiden fan that still puts on 'seventh son' once in a while, i was reflecting on my change of musical tastes. somehow i feel that it was a natural step from the melodic, progressive, 4/4 epic maiden tracks to trance... can someone please confirm this? cd
Guest jakemyth
Indeed carbon.......I have been a metal fan for years, played in them, toured in them and still follow it(but not as much as before) I get the same dynamics from both styles, big rich production, intense parts that can slip into breakdowns and most of all passion for a music. The people who play these sorts of music have probably the most devoted and loyal fans out of any other genres. Sometimes they can compliment each other- I've got psy that is heavier than death/black metal!! GO MAIDEN!!
Guest ZeLengen
Me too, I've been a metal fan for years ..... but since I'm into psy I don't follow it anymore. Still put it on from time to time ....especailly Paradise Lost which will always be one of my favorite bands. And we're not alone on this issue, check the off topic forum, you'll know what I'm talking about. ZeLengen.
Guest psychopat
Hi Carbon ! Have you ever heard "the Day of the beast" from Psyside album? There is the voice sample we can find on "the Number of the beast" from Iron Maiden. ".... for it is a human number.... this number is 666"
Guest FSOL
I think Iron Maiden is more close to melodic morning trance, there is actually same kind bass lines and melodies
Guest Psychedelic AllabertA
Yeah, I also used to listen to Iron Maiden every day. I didn't listen to other metal bands much because IM offered me everything I needed from the genre... Their songs are fantastic, and although I'm deep in the electronic now I still put them on every few weeks... And I'd definitely go to a IM concert if there'll be one near me! They'll always be special to me...
Guest --== MiLeS ==--
I liked them untill their Powerslave album (1986 I think) and from there on, $$$ has been the driver (can I play with madness, ugh...). Check out their early albums for the amazing bass skills of Steve Harris and the wicked double axe guitar solo's (often 2 minutes or longer). Yep, there are definately parallels with early infected, hallucinogen, pleiadians, muses rapt...I guess if a maiden fan turned into trance, he/she would love old skool melodic goa... Guest Tentwins
HAHAHA Its good to hear there are other Maiden fans (ex-fans) that also like psy-trance. In my humble opinion, some psytrance could be called the heavy metal of electronic music. That is what was appealing to me in the beginning, the power and the strength of the tracks. UP THE IRONS!!!! Guest mijis
theatre of tragedy someone??
Guest carbon
yes, steve harris' basslines are definitely one of the elements that hooked me up... come to think of it, when i was living in Israel 14 years ago, IM was THE band... extremely popular... now of course there are so many other factors involved in the rise of popularity of trance in Israel, but i think IM did played its part in it. any israelis out here? cd
Guest Kadath
Theatre of Tragedy? The remixes of "Lorelei" from Icon of Coil and "Machine" from VNV Nation. ;-)
Guest rocko
it´s very nice to found more metal fans in the scene, as many of you i was a heavy metal fan for years, although i still play some metal, i enjoy more a good psy party than almost anything else, and i prefeer to play a psy tape on the car. my guess is that metal hasn´t anything new, all the new bands sucks, they may have one or two good songs but nothing like the good old albums form the 80´s where all songs were excellent. i like a lot old bands new albums like "Brave new world" but it´s the clasical IM style, great music but nothing new to me.
