Guest Jaimz
Hi all, I've recorded a new mix and put it online. It's a soft, sexy, funky blend of house and nu style breaks. Just kidding! It's a hard, dark psychedelic trance mix. I'm a bit hot and cold with this one so I thought I'd seek the opinions of the most open-minded, well educated, intelligent group of psytrance fans I know. The I figured, what the hell, I'll link it on the PsyNews forum as well. It's at http://www.trance.org/jaimz/DJ_Jaimz_-_Erisian_Evolution.mp3 - it's about 106Mb, 192 kbps, 76 minutes. I'd like you all to have a listen and give me your opinion - I'm mostly umming and ahhing about the mixing itself. There's a couple of iffy mixes in there, and I want your opinion as to whether it damages the mix or not. :-) I also expect a lot of usless critisms badly spelled in capitals, 'cause that's what this interweb is all about, baby. Hail Eris, Jaimz.

Guest Jaimz
I'm writing up a track list now. I never plan my mixes so I never know what's on them before I record them, and usually even after I record them I still can't remember what half the tracks are so I have to listen to each track, then find it in my collection, list to it to make sure it's the same track, and so on. :-) But I've listened to this mix a few times today and I've decided I do like it, so I'll write a tracklist for it. :-)
Järsimähäiriö
Downloading it as we speak(?), only 66 minutes to go. What kind of a cable should I get in order to be able to connect my mixer to computer? No that I'm quite ready to publish a mix but I thought this is something I should know. Any good programs for recording the mix?
Guest Jaimz
Hardware, all I do is get a two-to-one cable [standard RCA to 3.5" headphone jack], plug one end into one of the outputs from the mixer and the other end into the line in on my laptop. Software, personally I used Sound Forge, but any decent audio editting program will do - other contenders would be Cool Edit or Wave Lab. Just keep an eye on the levels in your audio editting program and make sure they never hit 0.0 dB or start clipping. It's also pretty essential to maintain the same level throughout the mix, otherwise it'll sound silly.
