athens - samothraki

anyone know how easy/cheap it is to get from athens to samothraki

can get cheap flight to athens (50 quid) or direct to thesalonkia (150) - any ideas?

Andy, there is a direct boat that goes from Lavrio (1 hour from athens) to samotharaki, it takes 10 hours. But, the problem is it only goes once a week, the timetables aren't published til june 10th. Last year it was on a Friday night, so that would mean getting to samothraki 5 days before the festival starts; which isn't a bad idea if you have time =o)

Also, you can fly to athens and get a connecting flight from athens to alexandroupoli, boats go from there to samothraki 2 or 3 times a day.

i heard about a train? - goes all the way to thesalonkia - any ideas on the cost of the flight from athens - alexandroupoli?

it is better to take the train from Athens to alexndroupoli! the journey is about 15 hours but it is cheap and the whole view is fantastik! last summer i took the train from Larissa to alexandroupoli and it was full on travvellers for the festival from all over the world! you can sleep also in the train!!!!

sorry to keep going on - i have been looking for cheap flights - any ideas - i think i might have to go at the last minute to get somthing around £120 - £160 ? - anyone know any dodgey/cheap flighty type people?

Flight tickets from Athens to Alexandroupoli cost 45-60 E!!!!! But it's better to take the train!!!! You'll see unique places (and pay less than half)!!!!! You'll also meet fellow Goaheads from all over the world!!!! It's gonna be fun!!!!!!

This years Solaluna Festival will take place at Skotina Pierias between the 26th and the 29th of July. INFO: www.solaluna.gr

Solaluna 2002 is organized by a concert organization which helped last year the others (now Samothraki team) to set up the first Solaluna...they just kept the name.
