Guest WoodWormateriX
there is one thing that really twist my head, its all these Hallucinogen talks. I wonder, what is it that is so special with that man? sure he do very good music, but i dont get that very special feeling when playing hes music like i get from many others.. so give a little info about that man, like hes best track and stuff like that.. that would be nice! my self just find: Mi-Loony-Um!, i see my self(whit IM) and DMT remix as the best from hallucinogen! Guest DD
Well he was one of the pioneers of psychedelic trance music/Goa trance. and he's been feeding the psychedelic crowd alot of quality tracks over the years. This gives him a place in the hearts of the psychedelic followers. They know that whatever Simon P puts out is quality right thru it and this they like. It's like a red line thru the otherwise chaotic psychedelic music scene with all kinds of different levels of quality and innovation and talent. I'd reccomend both his albums : 'Twisted' & 'The Lone Deranger' + The Shpongle stuff. Heck i recommend almost all of his stuff. It's music that grows on you like most psychedelic music. But there is always people who like to put people on pedals because it makes em feel really good about themselves. And simon is such a 'connector' that people come together and put on pedals. Luv. Guest Lifeform
Well, i suggest you sit down and listen to ANY of his albums (my personal favs are The Lone Deranger, and Are you shpongled?), and just chill out and pay attention to what that man does with sound and music. His tracks have a special quality to them that no one else has.. They are much clearer, tighter, wider, phatter, everything good about what music is... is within those 2 walls (left and right channels) And most of all... It all connects and makes sense.. I personally think he is the psychedelic king of this period in time. 4 classic albums.. That dont have 1 boring minute on each of them, everythings always doing something, changing, drawing a phucked up picture in yer head, or bringing ya to some strange acid world. I think these 4 records have become soundtracks to my life. I love his tracks, i love his style (and how many styles has he written on?), and no one can do it for me like posford can! I'm sure alot of people are with me on this one too. One last thing, and i'm not pointing fingers at you Woodworm... but it seems alot of people just just plain and simple jealous of posford and his skills. Grow up and learn to love. Don't hate cause he's better than YOU! Cause that's just lame. : P
Guest 3001
Posford simply has an INCREDIBLE amount of studio talent. He also seems to have a very good musical backround. Honestly i prefer chi ad's vibe, and cosmosis' vibe to hallucinogen's vibe. But you have to give him credit for being just an insane producer. I think people can reach his status though, and perhaps even exceed him if they reallly learn their gear. He really knows his gear, has a very nice collection of vintages, does not rely on them, but utilizes them for the best possible way. Does not use VA(which is why most people won't be able to touch him)...and i think he has VERY good focus...to be able to program what he programs must be insane....sitting ther...sure u can get some of his sequences but it's not even that! his flow is on point! but that's what you get for working in studios for such a long time. I only hope my music can even come close to his... i simply don't have the patience to make the stuff he makes! some of the lines he comes up with on his 101...damn it they piss me off because i can never play that good! basically combine GREAT synth knowledge, GREAT effects knowledge, GREAT sampling knowledge, GREAt music Theory, anD GREAT keyboard playing...and you have what makes him so special. You may not like his vibe! but still you must admit ishe is very very good. his music can rock both parties and your mint on a pair of headphones. I really suggest the lone deranger above all else...that album is incredibly good! his shpongle stuff is superb too. Although i like the first album a great deal more than his new one. STill high quality...but like i said u can't always enjoy the vibe If u don't feel his music at least respect him for his complexity of tracks. Probably the ONLY person in dance music (INCLUDING IDM) who programs TRUELY intricate music, that sounds like it belongs. squarepusher, aphex twin, they haven't got @!#$ on posford...O_O sure they can make some zany stuff...but it always sounds out of place, but it's supposed to ... I love just having posford in the music i love... : ) it makes it so if somone says " goa is all simple" then you go "listen to this pig fawker!" and they shut up:D especially my music major friends...=P they @!#$ talk electronic musc till they hear that!! wheee...ok i'm done with m yrant now^_^
Guest KS
posford is the baba... he makes music that is insanely twisted (cid style).... but at the same time he has amazing production skills,... simon has been at it from a very young age, and his stuff is always quality... and the best part of it is, that i think his best is yet to come.... Guest mindbender
I cannot but agree on everything said so far, except for me, in addition to being a sonic wizard as described above, his vibes are exactly the ones I feel right with. [Well, when I'm in the right mood, nothing can be better than Simon, but I have so many different moods for music... Otherwise I would only have 4 albums in my collection instead of the about 800 I have now] But putting anyone on a pedestal is bad IMO. Even if they make your favourite music, they are only human, like the rest of us. KS, I really hope that his best is to come... But I do admit that TOTI is IMO *maybe* (depending on mood) his best up to date... But unusual suspects was "only" great, not as good as the Hallucinogen albums...
