My first post here. Hi.

Just found out about the new Shpongle album(what rock have I been hiding under you may well wonder)

My only dissapointment, all be it an unrealistic one perhaps, was that Simon didnt take the lead and issue this album in one of the new High Definition formats such as DVD-Audio, SACD, DTS or even 20 bit Dualdisk.

I'm not sure of the difficulties involved, but of all the music released in these formats(mainly classic rock, jazz and classical) there is IMHO no album better suited to these formats. Apart from the increased resolution, imagine Shpongle in 5.1 surround!!!!!!!!!!

Hopefully one day they will re-release Shpongle in High-Res.

As far as I know, Oakenfold is the only artist to attemp a 5.1 remix in his old Voyage into Trance DVD.

I can only hope trance isnt left behind in the 21st century, technologically speaking.

I also expected, or rather hoped, that the new Shpongle album would be SACD or DVD-A. I suspect that Twisted might save SACD or DVD-A releases for the upcoming (?) Hallucinogen album. The expectations are, by now, very high so it really needs to be something special and a SACD/DVD-A release would really help.

There are some interesting releases out there. Tipper released a DVD album called Surrounded, good idm/electronica. Then there's the Björk collected videos DVD (a must have!). The next Deedrah album is said to be a DVD release. I'm really looking forward to that one, because even though the last album wasn't amazing the sound quality was very impressive. I almost forgot the Syncrosect album. Then there's an upcoming Plaid DVD this autumn.
