Ormion Posted August 5, 2005 Posted August 5, 2005 Wow what a fight! I voted for Maximal, yout turn Quote
Cybernetika Posted August 5, 2005 Posted August 5, 2005 More is better The only minimal stuff I enjoy is MOS, Entropy and Sensient. Quote
Trolsk Posted August 5, 2005 Posted August 5, 2005 Both of course. There's a time for maximal and there's a time for minimal. Quote
Oopie Posted August 6, 2005 Posted August 6, 2005 here's a question for you: how to define minimal? Can it be melodic? Quote
Ormion Posted August 6, 2005 Author Posted August 6, 2005 here's a question for you: how to define minimal? Can it be melodic? I guess it can, but not in a Goa way, you know with powerful melodies etc. The only minimal I like is some dark old tech stuff from Midi Miliz but I can't vote both for it. Of course I mean Dance music. Cause minimal, atmospheric ambient like Master Margherita or Ishq can be good! Quote
Cinos Posted August 6, 2005 Posted August 6, 2005 Well it depends. Crunchy minimal is good, but I like a middle ground. Quote
Dajek Posted August 6, 2005 Posted August 6, 2005 Too minimal is utter crap if listened more than 3 tracks in a row. IMO Quote
travbrad1001 Posted August 6, 2005 Posted August 6, 2005 Maximal or in between, minimal is only good in small doses, and most of the minimal stuff i like is very 'dark'. It gets really boring if you try listening to a whole album of it IMO Quote
PsyGoatDelic Posted August 6, 2005 Posted August 6, 2005 MAXIMAL ONLY!!! i realy cant get into minimal tunes Yumade - Danz Ego album is ok but got me bored after the second/third listen Quote
KAsolarium Posted August 6, 2005 Posted August 6, 2005 Maximal!!! no doubt But minimal can be nice too . . old minimal acid303 music is nice!! Quote
Guest Rain Posted August 6, 2005 Posted August 6, 2005 between... I like subtile goatrance, progressive, fullon... to create the need for more is the art of making trance imho... Quote
Guest Posted August 6, 2005 Posted August 6, 2005 I take it as we are voting for the new Kraftwerk live 2CD - so I choose both Quote
lumpi Posted August 7, 2005 Posted August 7, 2005 Either side is boring on its own!! What you need is contrasts... imo Quote
Stalker Posted August 8, 2005 Posted August 8, 2005 i mostily prefer minimal but i like the equilibrium even more, way more and so as contrasts, like lumpi said it maximal is good, but not all the time i cant take "hardcore" maximal for too long althou i can take "hardcore" minimal for a while but thats just me Quote
Tatsu Posted August 8, 2005 Posted August 8, 2005 The old classic discussion from 2001... But for me the vote clearly goes to maximal. I personally can't stand minimal sounds, it all sounds the same to me. In between (progressive I guess) is also ok, but I like maximal sound the best (I would also consider Hallucinogen to be maximal, not only the full-on stuff). Quote
Ormion Posted August 8, 2005 Author Posted August 8, 2005 (I would also consider Hallucinogen to be maximal, not only the full-on stuff). Of course!!! Old School is THE maximal music! From the full-on acts only South African and 3D Vision are actually maximal. Quote
NT Posted August 8, 2005 Posted August 8, 2005 Maximal all the way, but i do like some stuff from Sensient, Cujorius One and Krumelur Quote
Oopie Posted August 8, 2005 Posted August 8, 2005 (I would also consider Hallucinogen to be maximal, not only the full-on stuff). 309941 I would also consider some full-on to be quite maximal, not only old-school stuff like Hallucinogen. Quote
Dragonflier Posted August 8, 2005 Posted August 8, 2005 I voted "both", altthough these days I clearly prefer minimal over maximal within psy. Earlier maximal stuff is good though (Pleiadians etc). Quote
RTP Posted August 8, 2005 Posted August 8, 2005 The only minimal stuff I enjoy is MOS, Entropy and Sensient. okaaay ... if you define MOS as minimal then my vote clearly goes to minimal - because even MOS sound quite maximal to me at times... Mmmh ... actually something in between is okay too ... maybe even some maximal at times for special high energy moments ... but overall seen I'm more on the minimal side Quote
Guest Rain Posted August 10, 2005 Posted August 10, 2005 I would also consider some full-on to be quite maximal, not only old-school stuff like Hallucinogen. 310067 full on is maximal in bassline old skool is maximal in melodie Quote
