Guest stringtheory Posted May 27, 2002 Posted May 27, 2002 Two huge psytrance powerhouse groups, Astral Projection, and Pleadians....have been disappointing. I have AP In the Mix....and it is just too dancey...not complex at all...kinda boring. I mean don't get me wrong, there are some solid tracks, but far too many crap tracks. And I just recently got Pleadians:Family of Light, and I was dissapointed. There are a few good tracks, and one great track, but over all, there is too much going on in the album. I mean I dont mind alot going on in an album, I love Aphex Twin, but with him, their is some order among his chaotic tracks. There are some parts in Family of Light that simply do not fit at all. Noise for the sake of noise. What are your thoughts ? (So far....By far.....Infected Mushroom, Hallucinogen, Shpongle, X-Dream, and Dark Soho have been the most impressive psy artists I heard.) Quote
Guest Gorgonator Posted May 27, 2002 Posted May 27, 2002 Check out - COSMOSIS - SYNERGY. The best trance album in the world ever. Quote
Guest jsb Posted May 28, 2002 Posted May 28, 2002 take some more listens to family of light, you won't be disapointed too long...this album is really excellent, especially modulation, a pure classic Quote
Otto Matta Posted May 28, 2002 Posted May 28, 2002 Agree. Family of Light took a while to really grow on me. Meter is still one of my top five favorites. Quote
Guest asdf Posted May 28, 2002 Posted May 28, 2002 Yes FOL is a classic, listen to it a few more times. Every song kicks ass imo! Quote
Guest SlickWitch Posted May 28, 2002 Posted May 28, 2002 Maya of pleaidians ... awesome track ... and i'm not lay ... you foot begain to shake when i heard it ... Quote
Guest Peaceful Warrior Posted May 28, 2002 Posted May 28, 2002 Hey Stringtheory check out Pleiadians - I.F.O. this is their older album and it is really good. It is nearly impossible to find a copy now but you can listen to it on MP3.com. As far as Astral Projection...well I must say that the cd 'In the Mix' is not the best way to hear Astral Projection since it is mixed. Instead buy one of their albums like Trust in Trance or Dancing Galaxy. You might have a different opinion about them after listening to one of these albums. But yes, their music isn't as complex as some of the artists you listed and is more predictable. (somewhat formulaic drums and high hats). But for layered melodic complexity and uplifting grooves you might find enjoyment from their music. b.t.w. I really love all the artists on your list of impressive artists. Quote
Guest stringtheory Posted May 28, 2002 Posted May 28, 2002 Thanks peaceful warrior! Soon I also hope to be getting Shpongle:Are You Shpongled? and Infected Mushroom:Classic Mushroom.....they are the next two on my list. If I can ever find Cosmosis, I will defintely get it. Quote
Guest bioxeed Posted May 28, 2002 Posted May 28, 2002 Personally i preferred the older astral projection stuff.. the newer stuff is ok but to me felt a bit too cheesy. They're music is not the most complex as some but like peaceful warrior said it's very uplifting - listening to some right now even =) As to pleadians FOL i didn't really like it at first. but it really grew on me. I still prefer I.F.O. but FOL is still an excellent album. Quote
Guest FinnHawk Posted May 29, 2002 Posted May 29, 2002 If you like X-Dream and Dark Soho also give The Delta's Scizoeffective CD a try... The Delta is an X-Dream side project. Quote
Guest FinnHawk Posted May 29, 2002 Posted May 29, 2002 oh! and also the track Johann - Stranded (The Delta Remix) Quote
