I wrote this but some time agoo... do you guys see it like I do or experienced it like I do...

differences ???

something wrong ???

other opions ???

let me know I'm hear to learn in the music section and would like to have some feedback...

please be gentil :P

very short...

old skool or goatrance is all goa created before 1999... it's mostly melodic and hasn't got a strong bassline... their exist old skool that is more minimal what we used to call minimal back in the days  ;)

new school are artist who create goa nowdays but with the forumula of old skool back in the days....

minimal became progressive around 2000 - 2001.... pure bassline no melodies but progressive evolved into more melodic progressive like we experience progressive today....

fullon has also been old skool... the first fullon artist like xerox, freeman, talamasca created fullon < 2000 that was just goatrance but faster and more melodic...

fullon evolved too ... in the year 2003 a new forumula arrived what would chance the psy scéne forever.... fullon became a style on its own and nowaydays almost all melodic is fullon... very strong bassline.... typical bassline you recognize directly... fast melodic psy sound and a big climax at the end...

psytrance started late 1999 coming up... also melodic but the didn't start directly with waves but more psychedelic little sounds and a big climax at the end....

1993 - 1999 = goatrance was mainstream

2000 - 2002 = psytrance was mainstream

2003 - 2005 = fullon is mainstram

I could write a thousand pages about this evolution I experienced but this should help you out  ;)

I must say nowdays all the subgenres are getting together...

the newschoolers are creating harder goatance basslines...

Fullon artist use progressive elements...

Progressive artist use more melodic elements...

it's started... all subgenres are coming together and let's hope quality is the end...

within 5 years all those subgenres will be almost gone and only good and bad goa will exist imo...

EDIT : if you want examples from sub genres cause you don't know just PM

Here's my view on it:

Goa trance and psy trance were exactly synonymous until ~1997, during that time some stuff was released that could not be classified as pure Goa trance anymore as the sound had evolved a bit from the original Goa sound. But whether something can still be called Goa or not, isn't clearly defined and is therefore a very subjective thing.

it's mostly melodic

yes

and hasn't got a strong bassline...

no. Basslines have changed throughout the years, but there are oldschool tracks with "strong" basslines as well.

their exist old skool that is more minimal what we used to call minimal back in the days  ;)

You mean things like X-Dream - Radio? This was an inspiration for the minimal movement but not yet minimal by itself.

new school are artist who create goa nowdays but with the forumula of old skool back in the days....

Then the "formula" would be that there's no formula :D Could be true, but I haven't heard enough of that "new school goa" to tell for sure.

minimal became progressive around 2000 - 2001.... pure bassline no melodies but progressive evolved into more melodic progressive like we experience progressive today....

Confused. What exactly is for you the difference between minimal and progressive? I see it like this: The so-called "progressive" genre developed more melodic structures and therefore some (or most) of it can't be called minimal anymore.

fullon has also been old skool... the first fullon artist like xerox, freeman, talamasca created fullon < 2000

Hm, OK. But full-on was only vaguely defined back then. I think of the first 3D Vision comp 'Psychedelic', this is what I'd call nice oldschool fullon :)

that was just goatrance but faster

mostly.

and more melodic..

than goatrance? No way!!

that's what's so sad about it :(

I explained above how I differentiate between goa and psy. Can you give me an example of what you define as psytrance?

Nah, mainstream may not be the right word, but I can see your point. You mean the majority of psytrance releases were in this or that style right?

I could write a thousand pages about this evolution I experienced but this should help you out ;)

Might be true.....haven't heard any of the latest stuff tho.

QUOTE

To be true, I already lost my hope 2-3 years ago....

That's it, I hope that wasn't too rude B)

peace

hey mate you could always do it manually... start like this

.....(text here) [/quote (close the bracket)

btw i mostly agree with you Astro..

rain, i wouldnt say goa is minimal... i consider it maximal music...

and there are tracks with strong basslines... e.g Chi-A.D or MFG ...

generally i think that goa bass is much more energetic.. i prefer it 100x from fullon bass.

yés but I'm comparing... and say it in general... in general the goatrance oldskool basslines are softer then fullon... it's not ok to make a statement in general and give one example and say 'see it's not true what you say'... off course there was goa with strong basslines but the mainstream wasn't I believe...

goa can't be minimal... some goa was minimal back in the days but we called it in minimal because the rest was so super medodic...

I compare goa consedering the time periods... Biot saturation for example is rather minimal to be goatrance comparing to other artist in 1998... just like x-dream... it's not minimal now because there's more minimal created...

I consider time periods... I Know we called it minimal back in the days... it's not minimal anymore... but we used to call it so....

difficult
