I cant believe

After all these years of listening goa

i rediscovered (a month back) Elysium

I used to know but now I understand (or thats what i think)

Maybe I was too tripped out or too young

I was looking for the craziest maddest fastest goa

Now i cant believe the power and the details of this music

Yesterday night I had such a good trip with

Dance for celestial beings

i could almost cry

i swam across my room without any external stimuli but music

i have dance for celestial beings

and

celestial sounds and neurotic tribal beats

both of them are excellent

i mean it and i cant believe how this happens

i had them and never knew that a gem was buried in my case waiting for me

my friends were also shocked and they were asking me why havent i played this before to them

i played aliens during dusk at an open air and people and the vibes turned out to be so good

anyways

now i am looking for all records and cds i can find from elysium

the older you get and the longer you listen to goa and stop searching for that supermelodic kick ,

the more you learn to appreciate albums like this imo :)

I'm personally kind of growing out of goa. It's like it's just not as good as it used to be. I think the time for me to take another musical step is soon here... this time from goa to something else, like I earlier moved from epic trance to goa.

I had those thought too often..

and now goa isn't my mainstream music anymore...

I don't listen to goa all the time anymore for 3 years... I listen to all music...

elektro, house, reggea, ragga, dub, ska, ska punk, acid, hardtek, drum'n bass, chill out...

Yes, I digged them out yesterday too..! Real classics! I love all the details and creativity he put into his tracks, everything in his own unique way... It still sounds very, very fresh today, compared to a lot of other "trance" releases from that period.

More like 2 years. Anyhow, why stay in the same place for long, if there's no more to be gained?

i think its very healthy to check as much different music genres as possible... it all goes in circles what you like

Finally you say something intelligent! ;)

Anyway, I'm not going to stop listening to goa, as I didn't completely stop listening to epic trance, but it's exploration time again. I've found a lot of nice stuff from completely other genres.

Yep, that's the way to go. I was also heavily into goa/psy for a while, before I moved on and now I listen to lots of genres within EDM. Goa too of course, but not nearly as much as i did a while back. Ambient, IDM, Techno and so on, it's all out there waiting....

Unfortunately I haven't heard his first album yet - DANCE FOR THE CELESTIAL BEINGS ( perfect name of the album BTW ) and I believe that it was great and next one, MONSOON was very delicate ethno tribal psychedelic trance album, with so many gentle, soothing melodies and very nice, tame atmosphere all around...

His second album CELESTIAL SOUNDS AND TRIBAL BEATS was good but not as good as second one. He threw psychedelia completely and made even more ethnic and tribal album than previous one. It was nice journey though but nothing breathtaking. I only heard 2 songs from REGENERATED and they were nice songs, but nothing more than that.

He started to make progressive house trance music recently and he is still good at it, but it lacks some energy and flow, he started making music for the clubs which is nice change but he does seem to get lost in all that too neat production and trying to 'keep it cool' mood...This was not against him, just stating my opinion... ;)

Guest The Journey Man Project

Interesting discussion… I first heard Elysium years ago with Trancelestial Psychobabas which 'til this day is an all time classic for me, played in many a goa set in the late '90s. I then found his ambient work with Space Cat, which blew me away, in particular the final track on Space Cat's "Beam Me Up" album. I then one day found "Monzoon" in the $5.00 (Aussie) bargain bin and grabbed it. Although somewhat older than Trancelestial and his works with Space Cat, the epic tracks took my on amazing journey 'til this day is a CD that I listens to in moment of doubt to boost me back up into the light… enjoying his more progressive works, and hope one day for an ambient album from this often unappreciated musical genius. One of the originators of the tribal trance sound, though he has been known to stand away from this definition of his sounds.

And to Rain's and Cinos comments… interesting, whilst I do listen to other styles, mainly hard drum n bass, Industrial, Fear Factory and Machine Head… I would say that my recent purchase of an mp3 CD player in my car led me to convert my 300 odd CD's of goa and psy to mp3 and create 70 CD compilations (all tracks in alphabetical order) and I think goa still has its place in this scene as much as the new sounds, that is why this scene is so amazingly good, there is so much variation, individualism and growththat it will never stop amazing people.
