Guest Kristian
Old school is the best, so much energy! Unfortunately the scene has been divided into two categories, oldschool/newschool it should never had happened if the oldschool wasn't abbandoned so radically as it was, totally pointless since oldschool still is the only type of trance that has the true message of GOA! Watch out for: Psydrop "The miracle man" - the album
Guest skeletor
OLD SCHOOL...... Posfords "Twisted" was in what????? 95? 7 years is not a long time in music terms.... yeah sure technology is doing summersaults but its still not a very long time. "old skool" is a borrowed term from the rap genre..... which has only been around what??? 20-30 years. its all still 4 on floor... 130-150bpm.... made electronically, and naturally evolving for better or for worse. One thing i laugh about with the trance scene, is the demands placed on a certain style or sound. Why should i go out and buy an amazing album.... and then somewhat cheapen it by complaining that nothing else like it is coming out 5 years later? We rarely do this with other genres of music... albums last for years or even decades with many classic mainstream albums and do wise people complain?... no they understand the concepts behind ageing wine and evolution .... then they live and let live. I bet the dinosaurs thought they would live forever!

Guest peaceful warrior
Why does it have to be old school v.s. the new school? I don't think there are two separate schools like some people say but rather just a continuum of musical evolution. It all comes from the same root and is nurished by the same spirit. Why does there have to be all this separatism? Unity is what is needed to keep the spirit of this scene alive. People who complain about the spirit dying should realize that it is not the new sounds and approaches that are killing it, but the lack of community. Approach the new music with an open mind and an open heart, expecting to feel something good from the music, and I am sure you will find that in essence it is part of the same journey. Guest ks
skeletor,,, come again, this time in a language i can understand please... old school goes in rap... but rap stole it from rock.. who prolly stole it from jazz, blues, who prolly stole it from xxx who eventually stole it from the cave man.,.. and by the way 7 years is a long time, since trance has only been around for 15 odd years... anyway i was wondering what you were meaning by the point you made about wine aging etc.,.. i don't wuite follow you there... Guest skeletor
ks..... yeah i was ramblin a little on the obscure side. (blame friday night!) but here are some parallel perceptions of the above post: - most wine has to be looked after and aged to taste its best so.... - ultimately good music has to be savoured over time to remain good music, not just for 5 mins like the top40 etc. The songs that last are the ones that strike most deeply in the most souls. - Trance scene has huge demand for new music always.... "the latest" " the freshest" " the heaviest" " the most minimal or maximal" etc etc. Because of this it can be easy to cheapen the past with your desire for the latest, or vice versa hold on to the past and reject the present. - so much more music is being made nowadays, surely there must be something to suit everyones fancy????? almost everyone is a producer in 2002! - and finally who can really account for taste except you yourself and u! (in other words like what u like friends! its all been said b4!!!!!!)

Guest ZEN_ic
This well, the new one and the old school THEY MUST COEXIST, I am not in opposition to the new school providing that it(he,she) does not eliminate the former one. I have fear of which the abundance of "minievil" turns the psytrance in monotonously and boring. Artists as Infected Mushroom, Ethnic, Prana, etc have have gone away to what bandages mas (fewer psychedelic)... translator: http://www.alis.com:8080/cgi-bin/newdemo.pl Regards.
