Ov3rdos3 Posted November 14, 2005 Posted November 14, 2005 Ive placed this in the Generals Section because I figured, it's what we listen to our psytrance on everyday, so it kinda counts. If this isnt "General Material", please feel free to move this to the 1999 reviews section. I do not have an insane killaar sound system, but what i have is a 5.1 Panasonic surround sound system. There are 5 speakers plus a Sub. Each of the 5 speakers are 50watts Rms (and are actually pretty loud) and the Sub woofer is 250 watts. Although on high volume my windows rattle like a frightened epileptic. I never play it full volume. Its sufficient. When i dont feel like commiting hate crimes against my neighbours, I use my sony MDR-V700 headphones, which are the best headphones ive ever owned. the sound quality is fantastic...and the only let down i have now, is that listening to 192 bit mp3's at high volume...i can actually hear quality loss, because the headphones have such a high frequency range. CD's sound great though Quote
Rupture Posted November 14, 2005 Posted November 14, 2005 my soundsystem: 5" polypropylene woofer 1" silk dome tweeter bi-amp power amps (65 watts woofer, 65 watts tweeter) Acoustic Space Control Builtin crossover of 3Hz Low Frequency Filter Low Frequency Cut Switches 56Hz, 80Hz, and 100Hz High Frequency Boost/Cut Switches magnetically shielded Shielded from RF interference suits just fine Quote

Guest Posted November 14, 2005 Posted November 14, 2005 I have 2 Genelec 1029A Monitors which I listen to all my stuff on. I also have a shitty soundsystem for reference, and which my girlfriend is using to listen to cds on. Now shitty, doesnt mean bad sound, its just cheap. My Monitors My Home listening system. They are absolutely good for home listening reference. Quote

Krell Posted November 14, 2005 Posted November 14, 2005 Amplifier - NAD C370 2*120watt@8&4 Ohm - Dynamic Power is 350watts pr channel in 4ohm, and 10ms bursts. Speakers - QLN612 Powerhandling 350Watts - 2 6½ Inch Mid, 1" Tweeter & 12" Long Throw Peerless Subs. Frequency response 28hz-22KHz. 31kgs each. dmtree Posted November 14, 2005 Posted November 14, 2005 gripe about headphones.. - i've never liked Sony 700s (or Pioneer 1000s because of the same problem) because they're made for DJs and they amplify sound in the low frequency range (the kick/bass) while not reproducing a lot of the upper frequencies correctly. I like Sony 600s, Sony 7506, Sennheiser HD 25, or some other Studio reference headphones to listen to music. -2 cents. Quote
grahf Posted November 16, 2005 Posted November 16, 2005 haha, some ppl got some serious sound equipment here. My current setup is a pair of yamaha little bookshelf speakers that are probably almost as old as I am, and I just added a pair of altec lansings that I bought for $2 at a surplus sale. I have a subwoofer but it doesn't work :\ Suits me fine for the moment, anything more would be hard to transport. I do have the sony mdr-600's though, which I think are the best headphones one can get at normal retail stores around here. Quote
Icarus Posted November 16, 2005 Posted November 16, 2005 2x Mackie HR624s which are awesome: Free field frequency response 52Hz - 20kHz ±1.5dB Low Frequency Response -3dB at 49Hz High Frequency Response -3dB at 22kHz Sound Pressure Level @1 meter, 7.5dBu into balanced input 100db SPL@1m Max peak output per pair 115dB @ 1m and a Sennheiser HD-202 which is pretty good IMO.
