reger
now i didnt read all 4 pages, but i mentioned someone telling that each form of art is difficult/complex to make, i agree on that, as long as you put all your being in what youre doing it will take pretty much energy, but if appreciated will give back even more ! so imo yes, each art form is difficult in one way or another nor they can be actually compared. i think that its ok if djs mix, theres nothing bad about it, and if someone really hypes them too much that you should know that you can turn away and dont listen and pay attention on them. as for what is more important - i think its lame to compare too. djs are djing, artists producing, people are dancing, visual artists are making decos and videos, each of them is a part of the whole thing, i think that they all are doing this to have fun and to make a good trips for everyone, the only difference between them is that they each do something own, yet they are all one. Guest Rain
I don't think I was disrespectful nor do I believe I 'trashed' or 'bashed' your topic. Fact is I just happen to hold an opinion in contrast to your own. If you can't see that then you can't see that but there's no need to get rude or upset about it. Live and let live. 395611 so why are all your post deleted in my topic then ?????? it seems like I'm not the only one who thinks yoiu trashed my topic... counting my PM's I got there are more
Colin OOOD
It does make sense, yes, I agree. You're an artist and a DJ, do you feel you're producing art while spinning material at the turntables to a crowd of people? 395650 Not really, but then I'm not the world's best DJ. When a difficult mix comes together though it does give me a feeling of accomplishment similar to that which I get when I pull off a particularly neat piece of sonic trickery in a tune. RAH
... if you are making something else out of it you are putting your input and making something new then is art. If it ain't then go debate with Duchamp about ready made art and tell him his urinal is not a fountain... the museums might want to digress Edited December 10, 2005 by RAH
Bahamut
I'd say a good DJ who does all sorts of tricks and effects to mix tracks... that is almost the same thing as Shpongle does with samples from sample cd's... both use existing material and blend it together

D3lirious
Respect to all DJs. Especially the Good ones hehe I Can´t say that a DJ has saved my life but certainly a great number of parties. I think it´s truly a pleasure to listen to a DJ that knows his business, so you guys just keep on spinning. We hear ya!
