Guest Mike D
I hate to say it but I do think it is a great thing that this has happened. I know it is a useless fight as mor epoel will come up with ways of trading music, but it wil make it harder and harder and in then dthere will be no easy choice but to purchase the music and upport the hard working artists. I do feel som sympathy for those who due to incom or living cicrumstances can know longer enjoy the music, but for thos who just abused the use of this sytem, which I think many do, it is a good thing this has shut down, or at least become a lot more restricted. I have not downloaded a single song, btu wish that I had had time get a few of the live act recordings, but due to my ultr slow connection it was not possible, oh well, at least I can still afford the odd cd every now and then hehe, tho it is tighter now with saving for a new pc!! Guest dsa
no other p2p programs had so many psy songs? we should all go in one again
Guest oa
fear not - for this hapened to napster too , there will be another - just wait and you will see. Seeing as how 90% of the music (especially trance) i download off audiogalaxy is pure garbage - i surley would have not been interested in this music anymore if i wasnyt getting most of it for free. If i spent all that cash on CDs and they sucked - i would have just given up.
Guest fuzzhead
oa is right audio galaxy and other p2p programs are HELPING the trance scene, not hindering...

Basilisk
who cares, something else will be around soon and it'll be twice as good. in the meantime i'll just buy less psytrance than i normally do, until i can get back to previewing material. it wouldn't be a problem for me if there were stores in this city that stocked good goa trance, but there aren't... and a realaudio or mp3 clip is never near the real thing - i have to absorb a piece of music before i want to purchase it. clips never satisfy. i don't trust them anymore - a few times i've ordered what sounded like a really interesting song from a sample of 1 minute... but it turned out to be complete rubbish for the rest of the tune. if psy guys don't get their act together and provide a way of sampling new music effectively (or, just putting out a lot of high-quality stuff everyone is gonna like then there might be trouble! AG was good, i thank them for enabling me to find plenty of new music that i have tracked down and bought... what's next in the mp3 revolution? who fights the next battle in this predetermined war where mp3s shall surely vanquish the greedy record label empires of RIAA? khogg
I totally agree with basilisk. I feel the same way, and I'm very dissappointed. How am I suppost to preview music now???
Guest oa
hey basilisk youre rite - Most artists you get to hear on the radio or at shows before you buy thier CD - not some cheezy clip off the internet that you just searched for. pople dont understand that its a gamble when you buy psytrance - not like if your buying the new TOOL cd that you have heard on the radio or already know. Otto Matta
I was watching a show on PBS last night about the first pop songwriter in the US, back in the 1800s. He wrote some songs and they became popular and spread all over the country. Many of the songs were recognizable, at least to an American's ears. Of course they were in musical notation on paper, but that didn't stop many people from pirating the sheet music. Point is, pirating goes way back to the beginning - it's not a new phenomenon caused by computers or even recordable media - and it will be around until the end of music itself. The death of Audiogalaxy is merely the birth of a new pirating software. Be patient.

Guest mmm...
This is a real problem for the music distribution of our days. Because it´s potentially so great a blessing, but on the other hand a pain in the ass, and no one knows which it´s really gonna be. Think of all those little artists who might via internet get their music heard all around the world, without those greedy record moguls getting concerned there. I mean, this can be done already, but what if internet distribution became even more effective and more like a rule than an exception!? It could be a revolution, in a positive sense! On the other hand, the composers and the musicians wouldn´t get paid either. So things should change a lot, on both sides, for it all to work in a good way. However, there _must_ be some kind of change, it just doesn´t work this way and we all know that. I´m really disappointed at what happened to AG. I´m listening to a LOT of music, different kinds, and it´s my principle to be open and search for new music all the time. I find out about the backgrounds of different genres, then search for biographies and discographies, and on this basis then search for the music. _Then_, having listened through HUGE amounts of music, I decide what to buy as originals and spend my money on them. The rest of what I like, I may copy on md or smt. I also "pay" for the artists I like by going watch them live if they visit my neighborhood. Now as you can see, this ain´t possible by buying records. I couldn´t afford it, and it´d be just stupid buying records all the time and then selling most of them away after one listen-through. I think it´s a little shortsighted from some people here always to start their flaming when someone mentions the word "Audiogalaxy" or "mp3". First of all, one should not generalize and be so prejudiced, and secondly, one should get real. This war against illegal internet distribution seems just like the holy "war against drugs", just as intelligible. A holy puppet-theater=/ So, like the others there, I´m gonna start searching for a new source of music now, hope we´ll find that source in no time. Source of music that we love and cannot live without. Peace out.

Guest Devil7
I'm really surprised that none of you know about KaZaA Lite. This is a p2p software that allows you to share not only songs, but pictures, videos, softwares and plug-ins. All you have to do is install the software and transfer your mp3 files from AG directory to KaZaA shared folder. But beware, there are two versions of KaZaA software, the KaZaA and the KaZaA Lite. You should use KaZaA Lite, that is a cracked version of the original software, with no copyright restrictions.
