AFK
OK, I'm expanding my musical horizons, so here I am finally diving into goa/psy trance. Firstly, from what I understand, goa focuses more on the crazy layers of melodies. Psy trance focuses more on the crazy layers of sounds. Am I right? What is the difference? Anyway, after a bit of downloading and research, I've come to realize I much prefer the psy trance sound over goa. That said, only a handful of Astral Projection stuff made me smile. However, when I listened to Derango: Tumult, the entire album totally made me go bonkerz (in a good way, of course)!!!! HOLY CRAP, this is exactly what I like. I also found other Derango stuff in various compilations...this guy is INCREDIBLE. I also realize I have some vinyl already of "psy trance" and to give you guys an idea of what I like, here are 2 vinyl records off the top of my head: * Atmos: Echo-Lab * some Shakta record I can't remember the name of the EP OK, please educate me on all this...and also please suggest albums and whatever. MUCH THANKS!!!!! EDIT: I think I also once downloaded a long time ago some track (I've somehow lost it since then...dog gone it!) I loved...it was Cosmosis - Spores From Space. So to sum up my current likes: * Derango (I actually this his tracks on the other compilations outside of his "Tumult" album is a little better) * Atmos: Echo-Lab * some Shakta record I can't remember the name of the EP * Cosmosis - Spores From Space

And if you like Cosmosis, the track called 'Moonshine' is very good.

Guest The Journey Man Project
I'd avoid X-Dream - "Radio" and hunt down C.O.P (Children of Paradise)- "Urban Alien" ... and absolute bomb of a project!

SkeletonMan
MFG - The Prophecy. This is an amazing album. I've only heard the Phonokol version, but it blew my head off. Clean. Really. I'm still looking for it ...
SkeletonMan
Quite impressive BTW that a newbie starts with Derango Tumult, I think. I've been listening to psytrance since 96. Just got Tumult yesterday, and will definitely need some listenings before I am able to go with the sound here. Dark MFer.
skyrise
The compilations found here: http://www.saikosounds.com/english/show_la...asp?label_id=76 should be a nice start... 414475[/snapback] Yollo.. The Journey Man right there.. that site has sooooooo many bits loaded on to its website its unreal. 100's of artists with long samples.. have a listen to ether http://www.philosomatika.com or http://www.psyradio.org both stream Psy 24/7 and are a wonderful way to find new tracts and artists But as i found out by accidentally. The best thing about psytrance is the club nights. Nicer and friendlier than any anything i have ever come across. Have a look at these sites for nights out. http://www.goatrance.de/goabase/parties.php3?saAtt[country]=United+Kingdom http://www.spraci.com/listings.php?parea=u...trance&x=10&y=8 Not sure where you are but both cover Europe and most of the world Hope this helps a little
