Guest jakemyth Posted June 24, 2002 Posted June 24, 2002 My girlfriend was in London last week and met her relatives. One who was a DJ for years in London told her that the guys from flying rhino are finishing the label as they haven't been doing well lately....he still knows them and that's what they told him. If it's true and does happen thanx Flying Rhino for evrything....... Quote
Guest Entare Posted June 24, 2002 Posted June 24, 2002 I sure hope not because they did so much for the psy scene. they r one of the best labels there. bOOm!! Quote
Guest russ Posted June 24, 2002 Posted June 24, 2002 would make sense, judging from the recent state of affairs. they haven't been on the ball for ages, but they used to be the best. Quote
Guest Axis Mundi Posted June 24, 2002 Posted June 24, 2002 Too bad . . . Much of the best vinyl in my collection is from them. Who do you think will fill in the gap? Quote
Guest Elysium Project Posted June 24, 2002 Posted June 24, 2002 I will call James or Dominic and ask today......stay tuned for more news later. Quote
Guest nik Posted June 24, 2002 Posted June 24, 2002 i don't think it can be true, as they've been releasing a fair bit lately. they also plan to release the new Bamboo Forest lp soon Quote
Guest andy Posted June 24, 2002 Posted June 24, 2002 i heard this rumor a while ago - what i heard is they had aload of money owed to them by distributor - and it was alot and that they couldn't move (interms of release) until they got that back, how true this i dont know but it wasn't that they were shutting down just having money problems - same as the rest of us! Guest TjT Posted June 24, 2002 Posted June 24, 2002 Let's hope not. I received the Charasmatix album the other day and am very pleased with it. Its a quality release. maybe the rhino's are back on track. Their recent releases have not really interested me much. Quote
Guest ks Posted June 24, 2002 Posted June 24, 2002 that is wierd.. just when they finally released a killer album from charasmatix... and with bamboo forest coming up, this is indeed wierd.. but the charasmatix album is unfuckinbelievable... i loved it specially happy and the 5th track.. those kicks would cut wood... finally a new act with depth.. Guest implant Posted June 24, 2002 Posted June 24, 2002 Flying Rhino is still my favorite label.....from the first release I have from them....it was Technossomy.....and all other music i got from them was just fantastic........anyway....I hope that's not true....cause James Monro is playing in Bulgarian festival (www.xpo2002.com) and that festival is organized like a promotion for a number of labels.......Bamboo Forest will also performing live there so I HOPE this is some bad joke...... greetz from Belgrade... Guest nik Posted June 25, 2002 Posted June 25, 2002 just wondering if Elysium P had had any luck with finding out if the rumours true???? Quote
Guest green mouse Posted June 25, 2002 Posted June 25, 2002 i hope, i hope this is just a rumor....for me FR has always been synonimous with good quality music. and for a while they were THE BEST label...we´ll see how the rhinos will fly in bulgaria Quote
Guest fuzzy Posted June 25, 2002 Posted June 25, 2002 maybe that'll teach them to stick to psytrance and not branch out into uk/euro/clubby techno [yawn...] i'm sorry because they were one of the premier goa labels but lately their releases haven't been too hot, with a tendency to repeat themselves with some of the same tracks turning up on too many compilations.they should limit the amount of releases to high quality trance or they will go the way of matsuri etc. Quote
Guest ks Posted June 25, 2002 Posted June 25, 2002 listen to the charasmatix album.. your opinion will change.. Quote
Guest chroneus Posted June 25, 2002 Posted June 25, 2002 whether it is true or not respect flying rhino for all. Quote
Guest akira Posted June 26, 2002 Posted June 26, 2002 Emailed them last week but haven't heard back. I hope this isn't true as they released quality music almost every single release. Anyone else heard anything? Quote

abasio Posted October 7, 2006 Posted October 7, 2006 What would Flying Rhino sound like if it was still alive today? Quote
Trolsk Posted October 7, 2006 Posted October 7, 2006 What would Flying Rhino sound like if it was still alive today? 615959 Like a rhino that realized it wasn't flying after all, it was just falling and earth was its inevitable destination. Quote
visine Posted October 8, 2006 Posted October 8, 2006 What would Flying Rhino sound like if it was still alive today? 615959 Judging by what James Monro releases today it'd be progressive all the way. Maybe a bit of lounge/chill on their Flying Rhino Freestyle....I bet it'd have little to do with Psy Trance and be more on a funky, progressive, housy side of things. Quote
Krell Posted October 8, 2006 Posted October 8, 2006 What would Flying Rhino sound like if it was still alive today? 615959 I think it would have been divided into more sublabels to represent Psychedelic Sound Clubby Sound Chillout Sound The label was always pretty open to diversity, and I see no reason why that should have changed, not even if James Monroe spins progressive today. Afterall, a label has, in itself, has a legacy to live up to and a support structure around it. It stands for something, Flying Rhino stood for diversity and quality + courage to try out new stuff + the coolest of all logos. They already created Flying Rhino Freestyle, which was a chillout thing. - Krell Quote
abasio Posted October 9, 2006 Posted October 9, 2006 I liked most of what came out on Flying Rhino. It was my favourite label & I was very sad when I heard they went under. I like to think they'd still be making quality music today of whatever genre! Quote
