qa2pir
I also fail to see the point sometimes. But generally, progressive is more trance while psychedelic is more psychedelic.... Although most artist's don't use the genre's full potential. Like in most genres.
Oopie
I've always thought people listen to prog psy because they just don't know for better. I've never come across a fellow who has wide knowledge of electronic music genres and still prefers prog psy. never.

I've been into electronic music for about 10 years now: -Aphex Twin/Autechre/Warp: electronica -Dopplerefect/Anthony Rother : electro -The Orb/Freezone : ambient -DJ Sneak/Derrick Carter/Green Velvet : house -Jeff Mills/Sven Väth/Tresor : techno -Astral Projection/Man With No Name: Psychedelic Trance -Goldie/Grooverider/Aphrodite/Metalheads : d&b -Deep Dish/Danny Tenaglia/Global Underground : deep house & now for the last coupple of years I've been heavily into progressive trance because it the genre I find most appealing to me, with subtle nuances (Atmos) aswell as raw power (Spirallainz)... And doesn't do good result on that. Some like progpsy that's perfectly fine with me, but it bores the hell out of me. "progressive trance" - is melodic, not repetitive. I wasn't talking about it. (although, prog psy is labeled as "prog trance", to confuse you bad time)

EBM, electro, Goa, House, Industrial, Darkwave, Eletric, Break Beat Techno etc...you name it! and i never found an eletronic genre so deep and perfect as Progressive/Minimal Psytrance on the likes of all those germans projects that i always tak about it here and there is also another thing, a few years ago i really liked Goa much more then i do today. Goa was slowly become boring, and prog/minimal still rocks the casbash and goes very well on my music development

abasio
& now for the last coupple of years I've been heavily into progressive trance because it the genre I find most appealing to me, with subtle nuances (Atmos) aswell as raw power (Spirallainz)... Therefore, I have to say your statement makes no sense to me 441077[/snapback] I have to agree on the subtle nuances. I first got into trance when I got dragonfly's project II trance around 93/94 and I loved it instantly. Then around 2001 I got planet ben's silver. I thought it was shit, but that was just because I didn't really listen to it and it sounded repetitive and boring. A few months later though I give it another try and this time I really listen to it. It was fucking fantastic, all the little things I just didn't notice the 1st time. even now when I listen to minimal or progressive I have to really Listen closely to fully appreciate it. I always think people who slag it off just haven't properly listened to it.

But indeed that's the genre I talk about in this forum the most, have to agree with that. Recently I have more and more started to crawl in the melodic/acid trance area (circa 1993-1995). But why talk about that when there's not many here who have similar taste? I'm also quite fond of lounge music, electro, idm, jazz/funk, prog rock And I don't think I'm throwing myself out from 50% of electronic music if I don't listen to minimal prog psy. fosku
Some people seem to think that music needs to have distorted or "dirty" sounds or bad sound quality to be good and true. Progtrance of progpsy is always clean and good quality, and some people hate it for that. Its more about what it doesnt have. [kick][bass][bass][bass] would be one of them. 440976[/snapback] Yeah that gets really annoying sometimes, especially when it's too loud you can't hear anything else I've always thought people listen to prog psy because they just don't know for better. I've never come across a fellow who has wide knowledge of electronic music genres and still prefers prog psy. never. 440986[/snapback] Well I must comment on that. I consider myself to have quite wide knowledge of different styles of electronic music. From early 70's german electronic to recent microhouse, I have tried almost every genre. Psy is one of my favourites, but from the recent releases I choose definitely progressive/minimal trance instead of psychedelic trance.
