DeathPosture
You know, those irregular casings that 'stick out' on your shelf next to all the streamlined jewel cases and digipacks... List 'em in this thread.. I'll go first: * Metalogic - Magnetic Influence (Boshke Beats 2005) http://www.discogs.com/release/469743 - Whereas Inga Burina's artwork is stunning, this cardboard thing is highly irregular * Montauk P - Def=Lim (Blue Room Released 1998) http://www.discogs.com/release/68914 - I like this gatefold thing - but it's a weird format nevertheless * Infected Mushroom - Cities Of The Future (BNE 2004) http://www.discogs.com/release/301907 - What, is BNE using Japanese measures on their releases now? And that device that holds the CD is bound to break... Good thing I never, ever listen to this CD... * V/A - Voojoo Rituals (Hovem Olam 2000) http://www.discogs.com/release/333145 - I kinda like the push-out device, but it looks crap on the CD shelf... * Kiyoshi Izumi - Protocol A (Peace Records 2004) http://www.discogs.com/release/440477 * Phi - Phinalizer (ELF Music 2004) http://www.discogs.com/release/342410 - Japanese digipacks are just very... Square! * Sub6 - Ra He'ya (HOM-Mega 2004) http://www.discogs.com/release/267367 - Classy yes, but it's way too thin to look good on the shelf - and it will break with time... Same reason why I keep my copy sealed... * V/A - Re:Evolution Vol. 2 - Time (Flying Rhino 1999) http://www.discogs.com/release/153754 - This heavy set cardboard box is not only ugly, it has no purpose either... * V/A - Sacred Sites (RTTS 1997) http://www.discogs.com/release/168074 - Now this is a neat digipack... If only it was regulation size... * V/A - Psychedelic Demons 2 (Zoomshot 1999) http://www.discogs.com/release/168078 - Now the pull-out idea is good, if only they made it work... It's a bitch to open my copy... * V/A - Fragile Life (Cosmicleaf 2005) http://www.discogs.com/release/478228 - Why put a normal audio CD in a DVD case? What's the frigging point? ^ A few selected examples from my collection... Feel free to add 'bastard releases' from your collection... Pics would be nice, but I guess when I was too lazy to do it myself, I should just STFU... /DP
Guest antic
I hate most of digipacked releases, because they tend to get damaged if you're not super careful with them and come with various sizes (eg. Phi, Re-evolution 2)
RAH
hehe... yes the metalogic is a big fat pain but i refuse to throw the carton box, is so nice! i don't sore my cd there anymore though, you can just tell scratches were coming from every corner... so i kee the actual cd in a case logic. besides that scozbor - mountain lord... at least the plastic thing is durable and it comes it a yellow velvety thing to protect the cd... that and a few promos, the rest i got rid of long while ago and i will probably have to do it again when i move... Frontier Psychiatrist
Digipacks are annoying. And so are those stupid cardboards that come with mostly Israeli releases from Hommega, BNE, Aleph Zero. I usually throw them somewhere. What the fuck are they good for? pr0fane
Dousk - D.I.Y. (Klik Records, 2005) - http://www.discogs.com/release/586822 Quite an original cardboard-cover, which fits the "Do It Yourself" theme of the album. There's even instructions for an model airplane in the cover. Insane Creation - Connected (DOMO, 2005) - http://www.discogs.com/release/552267 Ok, I don't if it's because I have promo, but it seems like an ordinary digipack, but the cd-slot is missing. Instead the cd is in a regular transparent cd-pocket.

Oh, and I found a couple of more irrgular CD cases: * Deep Dive Corp - Beware Of Fake Gurus (Jubilee Records 2002) http://www.discogs.com/release/283246 - I dunno about you, but I never adjusted to the super jewel box... It's a bitch to open, and it when I worked in a record store we cursed these boxes to hell... Good thing they never really caught on... * Terra Nine - Axiom Remixes (Tempest Recordings 2003) http://www.discogs.com/release/498828 - What is this - a slim DVD cover in CD size? It looks strangely home made... /DP
Guest Astro Cortex
Here's another one: VA - Megatripolis http://www.discogs.com/release/138559 It's a box similar to that of Sacred Sites, but without CD trays. The 3 discs are put loosely between paper sleeves. The whole thing has an extra carboard shell.
panda-hugger
Not psy, but Peace Orchestra remixed album RESET sticks out. Why should everything conform anyway?
Anoebis
the first James Reipas album has some odd format... grrr
RTP
VA - The Buddha Experience - Zen Trance This one is a son of a bitch. It's a cardboard box ... probably such one DP bitched about, but I dunno that release. It's a pain in the ass to open it because there's just a small place where you have to ram your fingernail into to "hold" the bottom (there is no other way!) and then you pull the top apart. But it's a pain in the ass. You have to use a certain force to open it since the cardboard fits somewhat tightly, so when you finally have enough force you litterally rip it apart and the CD holders can't take the force and thus the CDs always fly out of their holders! Fortunately I have not yet managed to have one fall on the floor or wherever... What a crap
el brujo
-PHI doesnt go in my case or my cd tower or anywhere -the first voyage into trance doesnt go into my hardcase and hardly gets out of the cd tower -altoughy my faves the rtts cd s yeah they re double but sacred sites is even bigger and hard to get out gets stuck but because of this they all have specific locations that i know

And that device that holds the CD is bound to break... Good thing I never, ever listen to this CD... it's perhaps like 1mm shorter and 1mm higher than a jewel case. it's not that irregular.. Phi, Re-evolution 2) 446873[/snapback] Amen. All of my Ultimae releases I have to keep special care of - the digipacks look very nice and I don't want to damage them. Whereas I know if one of my jewel cases gets broken then I can replace it and put the artwork in the new one.
