Guest Marc
Hi Does anyone know of any decent online record shops in the UK where I can order stuff on vinyl. I've been looking at Saiko Sounds which seems very good however the shipping charges are going to be huge and I am wondering if there is anywhere a bit nearer. Thanks Marc
Guest Jaimz
Ah, you'd be looking for Chaos Unlimited. :-)
Guest Marc
Yeah I use them but recently their selection seems to have gone downhill - most of their stuff seems to be the new minimal and techno sounds. Cheap and very good service though just a pity they havent got some more the old syle stuff in. Marc
Guest Jaimz
Fair enough. Have you actually checked to see what Saiko will charge you for shipping? Usually for me [in Holland] it's about 20% of the cost of merchandise, but they getting cheaper all the time... Also, the more people in Europe that order from them, the better rates they can get [more traffic = cheaper shipping].
Guest dam10n
www.juno.co.uk for new stuff - surprised that chaos have gone downhill is it not that the releases are drying up? They seem to get everything in as high a quantity as they can... Also I think cosmophilia have their own retail bit of their site now - not that I have tried it - might be worth a look? OR - direct to the labels.
Guest Full Lotus
Marc they do have alot of old stuff as well. The only other place I can think of is either http://www.dolphindiscs.com/ or http://www.recordstore.co.uk Failing that, Sister Ray ( http://www.sisterray.co.uk/) in London have a selection. I don't know how up to date it is though. Good Luck!!!
Basilisk
check out my shops guide: http://www.ektoplazm.com/astralogue/shops.html also i believe saiko has great shipping rates, or rather, their low prices offset the shipping. to me in north.am an order from chaosunlim is about the same as one from saikosounds. but of course if you're lookin for older material good luck sisterray = scam artists.. i had very very bad dealings with them.. took all my credit card info and would never reply for months about order status.. never heard from them. it just doesnt feel safe at all. Guest Marc
I did look on sisterray the other day. They have plenty of old stuff advertised but when I e-mailed them the bloke told me he doubted they had any of it in which made me think why on earth they bothered advertising it in the first place. I havent actually checked the postage from Saikosounds so it might be worth a closer look. Recordstore used to be good too but their selection has dried up and orders take ages to come with most the stuff they advertise not being in stock. As for Chaos like dam10n says its probably just no decent new releases coming out but they are very good on service and price so I might have a closer look through their catalogue to see if I can find anything.
