I saw them. I dont know their new music, and I do not not really know much of their old either. I thought they was _extremly_ boring in the beginning. Minimalistic and nothing really exciting and unpredictable. I dont think that minimalist equals bad, but this shure was. It was not anyway near as cool as their old stuff is. We went to get a beer instead, and came back at the end to throw rocks at them or something. But it was alot better. More layers and more advanced sound.

Maybe their plan was to play simple stuff at the start so it was going to sound better and better in the end.

I did not recognize any of the songs they played. I have only their equator album, and i have just heard a little bit of the alien protein and juggeling alchemists.

Well.. I guess this wasn't a good review. Just my opinion.

I saw them at Arvika this weekend. I thought they played better than at Sola Luna in Greece last year. But they are not as good as they used to be. The reason is probably because they are only two persons now....

I am going to try to review it as good as possible..i am an etnicafan since 95 when their first cd the juggeling alchemists came...anyway the first track they played was solaris...TBE: i think you know that track from Chrome so no further information there...track 2 was a new track from the cd Chrome "wester edition"..the track is Detonator and the last 2 minutes from that track is the best i heard since Family Of Light..it has that typicall Etnica-melodie that no one else can make..those minutes are sooo AAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRGHH..can't express the joy i felt when i heard that melodie.i said we are back in 95 with modern production..so etnica is back on track with a bit melodic..after that i was lost..i was screaming like a maniac...later came Small Doses but they had added some lines and it was AMAZING..they played: Are We Safe?Blasting and 1 other track from Chrome and can't remember right now...Then they played Dervish Remix from the new Western Edition and it KICKS!!! GREAT TRACK!!!!

The saved the best for last...Starship 101 (Pleiadians remix)..i think it's amazing..not as good as the old one but still it's great..once again i was lost...i think the last track they played was Delirium or something..some unreleased Pleiadians...And of Course Max was entertaining the people as always dancing and stuff...I saw them at Docklands in Sweden in November..i thought this Live was much better and the new Chrome "western Edition" is amazing...

I guess i am one of the biggest fan of etnica and i enjoy like everything they have made so for me it was great....and i had a chance to talk with Max and Mauri..probably the friendliest people on this planet...

Thx a lot Trancer =)

i'm happy you are now converted to the new Etnica beat!

They tried hard to change their stuff, varying from boring minimal of Nitrox through technoish layered psychedelic delirium in Chrome Jap. Ed.

And definitively i need to buy Chrome West Ed. because, and here i agree with you, Dervish RMX is completely AMAZING!!!! and the other tracks are great!!

Etnica are back!!!! Their new beat owns me & my mind is lost!!!

Nice review Trancer :).

It was really really much much better then their Docklands live, this was much more full-on and psychedelic, and really good new tracks aswell. :), and the etnica guys seemed very friendly aswell, was fun to hear that you almost knew more about Etnica than Max and Mauri,, hehee ;)

I´m thinking of writing a review of the whole festival but maybe I could just say that it was the best Arvikafestival I´ve visited, specially thanks to this artists/dj´s:

DJ Björn Svin (playful and funny techno, made me move)

DJ Luke Eargoogle (nice pornographic elektro ;))

DJ Joti Sidhu (propably the best set I´ve ever heard)

DJ MORG (hard techno-trance, but still with a harmonic and atmospheric thouch)

DJ SBK (Great warm-up set with a clubby thouch ala Automatic Records)

DJ Bakke (Great, great atmospheric trance a´la Human Blue and sometimes with a more israeli thouch was the feel, doesn´t get much better than this,,, and finally I got to hear CARPE DIEM at a party)

DJ Axel (Last half of his set was unbelievable, german atmospheric trance, ala SpritZone/Sunset/PlasticPark,, please please come to VooV !!)

thanks for a great Festival!

/Micke
