Guest Krelm Posted April 7, 2003 Posted April 7, 2003 Luke Chable - Sealers Cove Artist: Luke Chable Title: Sealers Cove Label: Zero Tolerance Date: 2003 Track listing: 01. Sealers Cove (Original Mix) 02. Sealers Cove (Cyberfunk Mix) Review: Excellent deep progressive house release. The original mix is the winner on this one - it begins with a slow, steady groove. Rhythms, atmospheres, pads, and additional grooves are gradually added on one by one over the next 6 minutes until the track reaches a moody peak and throws you into a well-placed breakdown. Smoothly, you are brought out of it and thrown back into the groove, before being let slowly down to a funky minimalism to end the track. Damn smooth. The b-side is a breakbeat rendition. It slowly builds in the manner of the original mix - the rhythms and atmospheres are still there - just with a bit of dirty funk. A simple synth brings you gently to the breakdown, followed by a crunchy, bass-laden groove. The last few minutes of the track are dominated by a simple synth reminiscent of old-skool rave music. A bit of a let down in the end, unfortunately. Overall a good mix of this track - the first half says enough to be used on its own. For this 12", both tracks could be readily used to set the dancefloor into a steady dark groove...the only minor blip is the last part of the remix. 8/10 Quote
