Guest trancer
I was reading some rewievs today on our page here.. And i see that some people can't make up their minds..if you read some GMS and Astral Projection rewievs then are like 80% of the people complaning about that the music haven't changed.."they are always making the same music to make money"...and then i was reading about Nitrox and Chrome from Etnica..then people are complaning why etnica changed their style..Etnica want to make money the easy way, that's why they turned itno minimal..people are always complaning whatever the artist do..i think it's pretty sad, especially for this scene... Guest --==MileS==--
Changing styles doesn't necessarily make an artist better and in case of Etnica its clear imo that they didn't choose to expand the trance boundaries but ride the play-it-safe waves of minimal so no respect for their choice. Etnica are a very gifted bunch (Trip tonite playa rmx, Beast man to name some recent masterworks) and they can do better than releasing unimpressive techtrance album numero 3031. GMS and Astral Projection seem to have one slogan: never change a winning team although I consider GMS' treatment the of Alien Project and Deedrah tracks and their 1200/1300 mics trax as excellent. If they have to penn down the tracks themselves some of the magic seem lost. Yeah people complain...but you gotta understand that for a lot of old skool goaheads the scene nowadays is slowly becoming part of the techno scene whereas the prime charm of Goa was about being different in atmosphere and sounds. Crazy and hallucinogetic acid layers versus clean hypnotic hihats and bassdrums. But the scene is interesting enough to hang around in so that is why many are staying... Guest will
Etnica is one of my major complaints. If you have heard "Alien Protein" and "The Juggling Alchemists under the Black Light" or the EP "Plastic / Vimana / Floating Universe" you would see what wonderful tracks they were putting out. But the later works such as Equator and Nitrox, I do not understand and I can dig the most twisted underground tracks. Indeed "Merkaba" on the "Psychtropic" 3D Vision compilation is excellent but too slow compared to the other tracks. Etnica have the right to release whatever they like but CDs are for people to buy and I will not be purchasing the latest "Chrome" without a good listen first. GMS have been heavily criticised in these forums but the latest CD "No rules" is just excellent showing a wonderful progression of the formula many have criticised. I agree the scene is here to stay, whatever would we listen to instead but people will act with their wallets and record companies have to make money to finance the latest releases. So please be careful, have a listen before you take a chance and buy something you regret.
Basilisk
no one seems to realize you can keep the spirit real while still evolving? it isnt a question of whether to stay melodic and do the same thing or go minimal - there are many other choices... Guest trancer
I agree both with you hoffy and basilisk..People are always complaning on some artist no matter what they do..if they go minimal they do it for money..it they do the same music as before they do it for money..i just don't get it...listen to the music you want to listen and be happy..and stop being soo rude to the artist. If it wasn't for them we wouldn't have any trance music..think about it before saying big words like: Fuck you self Astral (or any artist) or whatever you people write on the review page... Guest stringtheory
Anybody who says fuck this group or fuck that group is lame. Anybody who reviews CD's like that is lame. Too me it is about progression. I do not like when artists produce the same album over and over again. I want to hear something new from an artist. It does not necessarily have to be about changing their style, but about expressing new concepts and ideas. Infected Mushroom is a great example. All of their albums have some similiar elements, but each is different from the others. Each is unique in concept and approach. X-Dream is the same way. Irritant and We Created Our Own Happiness are very different. Yet they are still both X-Dream. If an artist changes their style, cool. If not, that is okay too. But I want to hear new concepts and evolution in the tracks. I may not like the new style or approach, but I will respect the attempt to express a progression in that artists music. What does irritate me is if an artist changes their style only for the purpose of selling more records because that style is the popular thing at the moment. What is most important is artistic expression and integrity.
