Setsuko
Ticon - Aero Artist: Ticon Title: Aero Label: Digital Structures Date: 2003 Track listing: 01. Dont Tell Me I Sing Like A Robot 02. Waiting For The Knights 03. Elt 04. Some Simple Sounds 05. Vox Pabiscum 06. Groovin The Bed 07. It Breaz My Heart 08. Back To Basic 09. Ghost In The Machinery 10. Bonanza 11. Snooze Da Booze Review: ... Ticon produced an incredible great sounding album to get you in the wright mood .Not really the tribal techno psytrance we're used hearing from them , no .. this time it's trance-adelic , subtle with funny breaks and surprising synthlines . this project is not boring at all , finished for 100% . including the beautiful graphic skills done by Son Kite's member Marcus ... standout tracks are "Don't Tell Me I Sing Like A Robot" with an smooth build-up and lots of crazy breaks . also "Waiting For The Knights " , played at many many parties and still is one of my favourite track for the moment ... "Some Simple Sounds" has this electro sounding loops , not full-on psy but no doubt dance-friendly . "Groovin The Bed" with a great clear funky trance bassline makes it awesome , so fresh .. that track really makes me happy :-) ... "Back To Basic" is more the typical Ticon sound with a deep groove and hypnotic effects njammy ! .. the last track is also very catchy with special unexpected touches ... with the variety of different sounds Ticon showed us once again that there are no bounderies ... just new areas that have to be explored ... the other tracks are all above average ... In one word - progressive ... 9/10 tanks you Fredrick and Filip for the psytrance . and thanks MPDQX for releasing their creations .
Guest Tomvcarter
An awsome album, fresh sounding progressive trance. Ticon who have been one of my favorite artists since the release of their first album "Rewind" in 2001, have released this massive album on the most exiting lable around at the moment, "Digital Structures". It is very different to their last album, which was a bit more tribal and structured, but this has breathed new life into the prog style which has been a bit weak over the last few months. I totally agree with Setsuko above, it is never boaring, extremly groovy, very danceable, and there is good variation between each track. My favorites are "Dont Tell me..", "Waiting for the Knights", "Some simple sounds" & "Its breaks my heart", all classic prog tunes, which would be huge on any dance floor. Full on fiends, dont be put off by the fact its progressive, as this is progressive at the top of its game, the best album so far this year and better than their first album. Just get it, 9/10, more please.
shahar@isratrance
I took my time with this album, and after really absorbing it I can tell you that Ticon proudly stood the second album test. Aero is everything a good trance album should be a decade after the first trance album was released. It has its share of dancefloor stormers (Waiting for the Knights, Ghost in the Machinery), yet it has the deeper subtler and more musical tracks (Some Simple Sounds, Snooze da Booze). It has indoor clubby and even housey moments, but also more psychedelic progressive outdoor moments. It has enough that breaks the 4/4 formula: the dubby opener, the amazing dubby electroish It Breakz My Heart & the interluding Vox Pubsicum. Hell, it even has the comic relief (Bonanza- sure brings good childhood memories, but aren't these guys too young to remember this one?). And as you can understand from the above it is diverse enough to keep it interesting for a long time. Take note though, that this album is less on the psychedelic side of things. To sum it, the Ticons have managed to create an album that diverse, interesting, varied, moving, touching, emotional, very musical, keeps growing with time and even funny. Bottom line: Great for any bouncing environment. No weak moments, only stronger ones. Best trance album of 2003 so far by far. Favorites: 1, 3, 4(!), 7(!!), 9(!), 10, 11. traveller
If you are into repeative music with no variation what so ever then I guess this is the perfect album for you..
Setsuko
no variation ??? man this album has lots of different touches and styles ... this is the BEST release of 2003 so far . you can only get into a real trance when dancing , moving on repetitive rhythems ofcourse with a clear mind. psytrance is all about repetition , loops , melodies that are put in segments repeating for several times ... Ticon brings us a project that is based on sound quality and groovy psytrance ... these guys really have talent . next time Traveller if you put a review give a reasonable opinion because your post is just lame . a waste of time . traveller
"psytrance is all about repetition" Hmm.. first of all this is NOT psytrance album.. it's more like progressuve album.. and no psytrance is not about repetition.. have you heard the younger brother album? repeative? i don't think so.. sure this is well mastered album but that doesn't make it good.. Guest Slave2rave
The younger brother album is more on the experimental side of things, i personally wouldn't call it psytrance... it's just useless to discuss those kinds of things. As for the Ticon album, it's great. Absolutely great, for the tracks i've listened. Good masterization, creative tracks, nice fresh ideas for prog trance. Highly recommended. Guest Dr G
I have been listening to this album on and off for the past couple of months, trying to get into it. Unfortunately, I cannot give it quite the rave review that others have above. Don't get me wrong, I think it is good, and I particularly appreciate the variation in vibe and pace on the album, but for me there is something missing. For me the best track is the relatively slow and dubby "Don't tell me I sing like a Robot" which is a great track for starting up a set or for moving between chill music and more up-beat - nice reggaeish feel to this one. There are also other dubby moments in quite a few of the other tracks, and in fact this disc reminds me a little of Leftfield in that dubby influence and in the fat beats that abound. Theoretically then I should love it, as anything with that dubriddim floats my boat big time, but for me this album has a rather cold soulless feel to it and I think it is because it is all so carefully worked out that it comes across as a little unspontaneous and quite commercial and clubby. This album will doubtless go down very well in clubs - very danceable. So a very crafted album then, but not out there in terms of innovation and certainly not a classic for me. 6/10 ~*~

Not that repeative imo. There is lots of way more repeative stuff outhere than this and yeah, it's prog all the way... But indeed this is a wonderful album. Heard it the first time in the summer of '04 and it's been a regular in my headphones ever since An easy 5/5.
