Guest Ibotenic
Highpersonic Whomen - Alternative Energysource Artist: Highpersonic Whomen Title: Alternative Energysource Label: Thirteen Date: 2002 Track listing: 01. Wunderbaum 02. Piece Of Cake 03. Des Pudels Kern 04. ETFM 05. Standard Procedure 06. Clone Collective 07. Wormhole 08. Easy Does It Review: From what I understand, the psychotherapists of PeLinPaLa decided to increase his medication and the result is this album. It seems the meds caused his rhythmic personalities to take over. Clear, sharp crystal crunchings are the main ingredients of the pieces of cake on offer. The mood range is morning and evening. First comparison that comes to mind is the new Logic Bomb. [Joke of the day]: when Finns decide to be experimental, they go formulaic . The energy of the tracks is mainly suited for delicate grooving, but obviously that varies according to the dancers' attitude and mood. Well, that's about it.. minimal review for a minimal album . Guest Acidhive
Can't really add anything here, other than: perfect stuff. As EyeC says... clear, pure sounds & melodies, and indeed does that track 'Des Pudles Kern' ever rule!! Check out Space Elevator on Goa Head Vol. 17 also. Really great stuff, I hope they keep it up! They could well become one of my faves!! 9/10 for this effort..
Guest Drop
A good solid start from the Whomen! These guys have made more experimental stuff on other aliases and now have returned "back to square one" with a more progressive and middle european approach on psychedelic trance music. Some of the trax like "Wunderbaum" and "Clone collective" are more night orientated full on trax which will keep your feet stomping and others like "Piece of cake" and "Standard procedure" accompany the first rays of the sun and make you smile. Last but not least there's a wonderful chilled track "Easy does it" with dub elements spiraling slowly up to a mellow progressive groove. I like this album. It's stylish trance with a little hint ("Wormhole") of it's northern origins. 13 productions has licensed Whomen's tracks to different compilations like Compact's Fata morgana and Goahead vol. 17. In the future there will be trax on the new Mpdqx Trance of scandinavia comp. and Twisted's backroom beats vol.2 comp. Not a bad start at all ! : )
Guest AstraL699
Well, its the best album i've herard this year so far. All tracks are aweosme. At last something mostly different comparing to other albums. "Piece of Cake" (especially the last 3 minutes)and "ETFM" are the best of all tracks. Great psy-morning tunes, ala old Human Blue style, but much better. My verdict is 10/10. Nothing more, nothing less.
cubensis
I'm kind of disappointed. I really liked the Pelinpala album, it was different, and I found it to be extremely psychedelic. This is just standard generic morning psy-trance, very formulaic. Actually, they have done a very good job with the formula, but still, this doesn't even touch 'My cd has landed on the next door neighbours dog'. If it was the desire of the pelinpala guys to make standard stuff, they did a great job. I would give it 10/10 if I liked that stuff. But I like stuff that's weird, so this only gets a 6/10 from me (very high for standard stuff!).
Guest Rx7style
I was also dissapointed with this album after reading such positive reviews, but there is nothing special or unique about any of these tracks. They are nice, but nice just doesn't cut it anymore. Not to say this album is bad whatsoever: it's pleasantly pleasing, but I've given it a few listens and have lost interest already. It is very "formulaic" as was well said by Cubensis.
sourcepan
yeah i'm a bit dissapointed also, nice sound, would of liked it to be trippier though..... was hoping for some raw finnish power with this one. yet another clubby sounding release from the 'psychedelic community'? :-/
sourcepan
just thought i'd add a few more words now that it's had time to soak in a bit more.....after my initial dissapointment began to fade and i accepted this album for what it is (nice scando sounding morning progressive with moments of cheesyness) i actually found myself able to enjoy some of the tracks on here quite a lot. there's no doubt some of this stuff played late morning at an outdoor party would set the dancefloor alight. my favourite tracks (the least cheesey ones!)are 1,3&6. still a bit dissapointing, but only because i think this could of been something really amazing (super twisted!) shahar@isratrance
Highpersonic Whomen (AKA Haltya Project), with the surprise album of 2002, that arrived in the last moments of the year. People! We're talking about the album that puts the psy into trance again, as a good friend of mine said. A diverse musical experiment that has it all: originality, liquidizing music that will take you to another dimension, great atmosphere, stories, feel and emotions. In short, good psychedelic trance the way it should be. HPW are breaking and melting the borders of the different trance genres, which is just as good as this music was always not about genres. Its all here, the more pushing Wunderbaum & Clone Collective, the killer hit that will always get the floor spacing- Des Pudels Kern, with one of the best breaks I heard the last year, the dripping liquidish E.T. FM & Wormhole, the hypnotizing Standard Procedure, and the beautiful penetrating melodic twist of Piece of Cake. And in the end it's Easy Does It. My next mission in life: a beautiful sunrise in nature with few hundred more beautiful people and a HPW set. Bottom Line: If you want to feel what psytrance is really all about- buy this one NOW! Favorites: 1, 2(!), 3(!!), 4, 7(!!), 8.
Guest Psydark Light
so ,I got the cd , but I expect for something much better ! it is nice album but things get repeated themself too much.. anyway , good release and very good quality.. I liked track 3, 6 (very good production here !) as a whole album it wasn't work so well, I didn't like many things that get repeated themself , but it i really good album ! I enjoyed this purchase! Overall this album get 8.5/10 and one of the better minimal music I got..
Guest Hippo
disagree, this album offers a great deal of diversity, going from full-on to groovy, slightly progressive to wonderful morning tunes.... I thought no tracks really sound too much alike, unless quite a lot of artist albums (which doesn't make them bad, just boring ). Absolutely highly recommended
Cynos
I listened to it, and it's an awesome piece of work. 10.1/10 This album was re-released for free (in digital version, with new artwork and remastered) in 2010.
