Guest Gizmo
Great chilly album from master Blenn. There's a revision of different styles of light electro music (breakbeat, trippy, ambient, downtempo...) First track "Musication Celebration" good trancy, 2,3,5 great musical stories specialy "Open Your Heart" really romantic track . The last two, are very ambient, for good dreams. 8/
Guest telli[at]dellnet[dot]com
Galaxy - Angel Artist: Galaxy Title: Angel Label: Blue Room Date: 1998 Track listing: 01. 04'44" Musical Celebration 02. 05'55" Cosmonautical 03. 09'08" Baile Celestial 04. 05'14" Electro universe Vol 3D 05. 04'11" Open Your Heart 06. 08'11" Alien Encounters Vol 1 07. 12'07" Aquarian Deep Sea Diving Part 1&2 08. 20'03" Higher Vibration : 09. Part 1 : Spring Forest 10. Part 2 : Energetic Angel Meeting 11. Part 3 : Mandala Review: This is a real quality production as you would expect from the Blue Room. The pace ranges from total chillout to mellow drum And bass (track 2). The whole album has a very floating feel to it and overall is excellent. For those seeking chillout albums, this is one to get. Guest Snow Dog
One of my favorite ambient albums. Boris Blenn has put a lot of work into this, drawing from german Electro influences, intelligent techno And ambient, and the result is mesmerizing. Tracks have the feel of an extended meditation. My absolute favorite is 3, so powerful, emotional And dramatic. If I ever write a movie, I want Galaxy to do the score! 8.5/
Guest Psylent Buddhi
Indeed a very nice chill album. Though I find some of the tracks rather uninteresting. But there a 4 tracks on this album, which really stands out. 2,3,7 and 8. Number two because of the d'n'b elements mixed with that mellow mood of Galaxy, and three because it's simply beautiful! The last two tracks are some of my all-time meditation favorites. They're simply fantastic. Especially "Higher Vibration"! What a gorgeous 20 minute long journey! Guest Phaedrus[at]austin.rr[dot]com
Not at all my cup of tea. Not sure why this is considered psy trance... or chillout either - The last 2 tracks are ambient, and are tolerable, but the rest of the album is not. The music has no depth - sounds much more like house than psytrance to me. Either way, I don't dig on it. To each his own, though.
Trance2MoveU
To appreciate Boris's debut album as Galaxy I believe it necessary to slay the preconceived demons of what it isn't. Not goa? Ok, cool. His goa wasn't that great most of the time anyway. Not psy? Well all right. No big deal especially if you had the misfortune to suffer through Higher Modes. The album is a free flowing mixed homage to the techno and electro sounds of the early 90's. Sometimes upbeat and loaded with cool percussion it's always clear. It further cements the notion that he is more creative when the bpm's are low. Some of the beats are so old school (track 4) you might want to lay the cardboard on the corner and dust off that backspin. Some might not like it pointing to it's simplicity, but isn't the idea of a side project the freedom to explore different avenues on which you might not normally tread? I take shots at Boris for lots of things, but I cannot do so because he moves in different directions. Believe me, he's made several albums that leave one scratching his head. Someone called this house? House? I'm sorry have you ever f*cking heard house? Consider this a nice change of pace from Boris. An escape from what you expect him to deliver. Hardly essential and not even his best downtempo stuff, but a fairly nice shot across the bow of the electronic genre. BTW, hated the last two tracks. It's like he just said ah, f*ck it. 20 minutes, really? Mdk
abasio
Higher Vibrations was actually one of my favourites on this album, long and meandering. I like the album as a whole, it has a nice dreamy but clear quality to it. I prefer this to any of his upbeat stuff and feel like he just explored more in this album.
