yes, this is indeed some good "shit"(?) ;). It's all aboot noises! Very nice if

(and I mean only if) you're in that mood. I can like this and I can dislike

this... it depends on when and how I listen to it. But one thing is for sure

this is a 8+/10 album! Great work Tristan! Plurries!

Good Twisted style psychedelic album from maestro TRISTAN. He made his first album in 1999 after already being 3-4 years in the scene...

I always wondered why he hasn't released any album before in his old school psy style, but even this progressed psychedelia suits my mind perfectly.

This album tend to get somehow minimal but it has many very twisted tracks : FETISH ( ! ), DREAMTIME, REPTILE MIND ( ! ), PERIMETER, MIND OVER MATTER, MARTIAL ARTS...7.5/10

Perimiter is the best track, Valve is the worst (Yuk!)

Reptile Mind is good too. Fetish is a great opening. Tristan isn't Simon

Posford, Tristan is crafty in his own way! Weirdly Melodic album, more

soundscapes, Very Cerebral. Should be highlighted in Red.

Really unique. Great combination of weirdness, energy

and psychedelics. One of the best...

Favourable tracks: Perimeter, Valve (very experimental, Reptile

Mind,Infutuation, Martial Arts. Besides Perimeter sounds very similar to Small

Paper Squares (Demented Compilation), imho.

Also very good cover design of Vynil.

The title ‘Audiodrome’ is chosen well IMO as Tristan really creates a kind of

“audible space” with this album (if that makes sense?), the style ranges

between the maximal psy of, let’s say Hallucinogen (the mood is very similar

in some tracks) and the more minimalistic percussion-oriented psy – it’s

Tristan’s unique sound :-) That means: The basslines are pure ear-candy by

themselves, plus crystal clear production. Let’s see what each track has to

offer: 1.Fetish: the brilliant Tristan-specific sounds and killer percussion,

it has a slightly tribal touch - excellent. 2.Valve: still quite minimalistic

but this time in a slower tempo, nice groove and tribal feeling as well. That

indecipherable voice sample sounds cool too but gets annoying due to

multiple repetition. 3.Dreamtime: the melodic part starts here. Happier sounds

in this one and an uplifting - but not too uplifting - kind of low-pitched

melody. I can’t really describe it but it’s great anyways. Dreamlike I’d say

;-) 4.Reptile Mind: slowest track here, with a delicious groove and plenty of

trippy sounds. And in the middle a melody enters which is just soooo

excellent! I’d say this is the most psychedelic and mind-expanding moment on

the album. The name fits quite well too, it makes me think of an

alligator ;-). Over to track 5.Lore Of Fives: the most melodic track, very

uplifting and powerful plus these magical sounds and the typical basslines and

percussion, it’s all in here - great! 6.Perimeter: a little bit more on the dark

side, it contains some very original sounds and structures, such as this part

that sounds just like a crow. Kewl! 7.Mind Over Matter:

The low point of the album IMO, it starts with a funky guitar-like sound that

repeats for one minute but then it continues with the monotonous beat and the

usual noises on top. The problem is the lack of depth and that it doesn’t go anywhere.

It all sounds like a build-up to an “explosion” but nothing happens

and after 6 minutes it suddenly ends - somehow this track doesn’t make sense.

8.Martian Arts: kick-ass track, the fastest one along with track 9. We have

nice bassline changes here and some funny sounds, one specific sound makes me

giggle every time, nice track but it’s just a prelude for....da Killah:

9.Infatuation!!: a powerful beat, the percussion is

excellent, the Tristan-sounds work fine - halfway through this trippy little

melody appears, then some alien noises make a dramatic buildup while hints at

an additional bassline enter, which oscillates betweeen the two speakers - the

climax is reached, there you have it, the KILLER bassline, your legs are

oscillating along with it, woooohoooo!!!! The track is

nearly over, everything fades, the beats and percussion, but that additional

bassline remains till the end and the strange thing is that at that point you

fully realize what a magnificent thing you just danced to. Hell yeah, what

a ride! So my verdict is that all tracks are excellent, except maybe tracks

2(“only good”) and 7(dunno), the best one being track 9, this one is so much

fun! Tristan did such a great job with this album, I think it’s a true

masterpiece. Damn, again such a long review, but it deserves it ;-) Rating 10/10.

unbelievable, easily one of the best psy albums i own: The first time i

listened to it i just couldn't understand it, I was waiting for something

familiar.. a big snare drum roll, a breakdown, anything to help me get my head

around it.. but it never came. It just sounded really dark and directionless,

and once i fell asleep listening to it, it got buried under a pile of other

CD's i had purchased, only ever to be pulled out for a short unattentive

listen... Eventually, motivated by seeing Tristan DJ (and also feeling ripped

off at buying a CD i had never heard), I played it in its entirety knowing

that it wouldn't fall into any catagory.. and it was amazing... They are the

sort of tracks you bop along to, and then when you next stop and think you

realise you are jumping around like a crazy person.. the songs on this CD

build in intensity, so subtley, so unconciously.. It is irresistable. It's

rare an album is so incredibly well crafted: Miss this at your own peril!

I love this cd! Takes you straight into a psychedelic rainforest with those

hypnotic junglesounds and atmospheres... Dreamtime, Perimeter& Martian arts

are really great! Tristan is a talented guy, ALL tracks on this album are

superb compositions... it's overwhelming... Only 1 i don't like (Mind over

matter), but this doesn't matter... I'm looking forward to hearing some new

stuff from this guy! anyway, I suggest you give this a listen! 9/10!

Indeed, dark brooding, and it takes time to sink into. In that aspect it

reminds me of Darshan's album Spectra, which I bought together with this one

and some other albums. Hailing from 1999 already, this album still sounds like

modern stuff. And it IS really good! Just listen to some of the sounds this

guy creates.. especially in Perimeter.. Wow! It really gives you that dark,

brooding kind of mood. And the bassloop that just hums on and on.. I think

this album is a timeless piece of work. Newer tracks from Tristan rule also!

Check out his track Fortean Times on Unusual Suspects comp.

Anyway, 8,5/10 from me here.
