This album as we could expect is in Shiva Chandra's style. Deep & dark progressive trance with characteristic weird samples. 1st track - nice & original composition with powerful & energetic bass. Next one also attacked with scratching, & wizzing samples (like in every track). 3rd track dark & weird, with scary samples like from laughing ghost, nice rythm & energy. 4th track is softer one & little in funky style. Tracks 5 & 7 (Melo mixes) are more melodic. But not melodic as cheese, only with a delicate tune in Daniels style (e.g. Like Creator RMX). Maybe melody in track 7 is stronger, but that gives to this track some funky & hpapy energy. Track 6th is little acidic & 8th is typical weridness. So if You like Shiva Chandra You definetly should have this album. I could equal "Audion" to the great "Positive", because it's less minimal as last solo productions of Daniel. Now I know, that Auricular isn't just Daniel's music, but you can really hear, that he was part of it. The bass-kick, the rythms. Pilsvergiftnung is one of the best tracks I have ever heard. Pilzcergiftung is a TERRIBLE track -- a realy bad laughing sound that was minor and clashed with the base tones... just not pleasing to the ear! This album is tedious to listen to, and all tracks leave you feeling depressed after listening to them. Production is okay, but the music is just really f#ckin' bad. I've always really enjoyed Daniel's work...he ranks among my very favorite producers. He's all about the perfectly sculpted and placed little bits of sound. In a review of another album, someone described him as an 'audio fetishist', and I think thats an accurate call. An 'audion' seems like it must be the particle equivalent to a sound wave, and the particles that he uses here are so carefully, lovingly crafted. Respect to DJ Mapusa as well, as this album is a step above the Shiva Chandra 'Auricular' album which was more a Daniel solo project. Thomas seems to bring a smoothness and progress to the music. And no one has mentioned my favorite track, 'Wasp or Fly (melo mix)' This song is a primer on subtle and elegant use of melody in trance. To sum up, this sounds like the future to me. Check it out. Guest Hach Posted September 3, 2001 Share Posted September 3, 2001 this album is a very good Daniel´s release, but now the party music are going to another direction... not elegant and sofisticated music (like this one) but pumping and madness (talamasca absolum gms). But this one is still very enjoyable. Now i have seen must of the best live acts, X-dream, SUN project, Logic bomb, GMS, infected , hallucinogen, absolum... But of all parties i´ve gone without a doubt the best one for me has been Shiva Chandra and mapusa mapusa. its hard to explain, but there was there some kind of magic and misticism. overall, Pilzfergiftung grandwanderung dirty dog best ones here. 10/10 Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

I love the sound of every track on this album, there's always something ratteling, scratching, flying around at the background... I like everything about Auriculars style, all the sounds and percussions together truly are massage for the ears! tracks I like the most: Pilzfergiftung (great to listen to at home, but even greater on the dancefloor!) and yes indeed! The Wasp or fly Melo mix (is less stomping... and maybe better than T3 imo...I liked the original version, but now this MELO MIX!! Don't you just love the way that funny melody comes up: so delicatly, so subtile... simply perfect! 10/10)...Crocodile Crash-diving is brilliant to...Grad Wandering is really great to...I simply like everything about this release :it contains good stuff for ANY RHYTHMIC LOVER! just GO AND GET IT NOW!!! 8,5/10 Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

This is probably the side added by Dj Mapusa Mapusa. Sounds good, but a little too much resemblance with the album made by Shiva himself : Auricular. It absolutely awesome especially in the middle when voice saying: "Vibration..." :-) Besides all of the tracks are worth to listen... Sideffect... Posted November 30, 2012 Share Posted November 30, 2012 Auricular – Audion (2001) This is dark. I know it is progressive but this release has always been a very dark experience to me. The atmosphere is unique within progressive. Creepy sounds, wondering around in a cave. The detail that Auricular is working with is well put and creates a high level of psychedelic. Little tiny sounds in one squeaky harmony that creates brain activity from the beginning until the end. His baseline is imo superior. The way he switches from fast to slower. Changes his kicks and uses different patterns all the time makes this releases variated at a good level.
