Track listing:

01. 07'26" Autopilot

02. 08'04" The Trapper

Review:

Christian Vogel & Tom Knopp is Jacques Gelee, and this project is something

really reaaaly good!. Christian is the only one I know something about, and

that is that he usually releases more techno and club-oriented music,,, but

anyway, the a-side here is called "Autopilot" and this a pure jewel. Totally

grooovy and body melting music, with a good package of weird and totally

grooovy delicious details and technoish-melodies. This is the type of

tech-trance you got from the great comp. "Otherwise" that was released on

Baluns, and this track would have been one of the top tracks on that comp. for

me!. It got some scando-elements aswell, some Atmos-like effects, but

elseways, pure tech-trance. The b-side ("The Trapper") is nothing for me

compared to the first track, still slow music in the same spirit but noot at

all such a great groove as in "Autopilot". A tooting sound allthrough the

track, and the electro-vocoded voice that gets some space in the last half is

reaaly nice, a n!

ice track, but not excellent. This release just follows up the so far great

greeeat year of 2002! :)

Jacques Gelee is definitely Vogel + Knopp. I was just as surprised to find out

Vogel has gone into trance. But the first releases were good and this one

sounds great too although I heard it for now only via psyshop's RA.

This is a completely new direction in trance, reached by a very well known

techno producer. If You ever heard some tracks by Cristian Vogel just add a

little more trancey beat+bass and You'll get Jacques Gelee. A fuckin' great

EP, i've bought it as soon as I've heard the samples. Marvellous effects,

strong groove... The trapper is the better track (17/10), when my dog heard

the evil high frequencies in the second half of the tune it run away as far as

it could ;) The tune is very slow but the groove will surely rock the

danceflor. Autopilot is also excellent. To all tech-trance haters: I know You

all will think this is shit, so... do not even bother to write anything about

this records, because this is as close to pure techno as trance can be (and

still fuckin' psychedelic ;) Get Yourself a new space cat. Cheers
